I could tell you, but then I would fear for the fate of humanity.

I think whats more important is a way to disable auto chat, so that people cannot irritate you with it.

Yes it is most annoying but to do it you press T (or messagemode) and then hold ctrl and press a number. Although abusing it may cause the following

Code: Select all

Cutman: Die! HAHA

I have come across many similer things, and hell is it anoying... One case is for the ut2004 players, Playing online quite hapily then some noob comes in:

(one thing I have to say is in ut2004 it has text to speech using the comps default voice, and microsoft sam can not say 'Soy', instead making a rather horrible sound)

You know, I just had to go and check that. Sure enough, microsoft sam cannot say soy. He can say Potsoy (a town near here) but not soya (he says [funny-noise]a ).

Back on toic, I can't work out the auto text. I've never been able to work out the auto-text. Does it only work in multi player? Do I need to define the text? (I thought some strings were pre-built in.)

I pressed t, got into talk mode then pressed Ctrl-F1 - nothing, Ctrl-1 - nothing.

So what do I do?

Use Alt. :P
I don't know how to change them though, but 1-0 are predefined. I can't believe I didn't know about this. How long have they been around?

Why not bind text to a key in the console such as:
bind p "say Thank You for Shopping at Ass Whoopings-R-Us"

Wastes keys/ not enough keys... Though, since I've got all my weapons rebound somewhere else, I suppose I could just use the numbers... I've already got a few things bound to all the keys around my setup, but alt-# seems less tedious, and easier to remember, than reaching blind for one of the ones across the keyboard (presuming the defaults can be changed).

So I take it they can't be changed easily (i.e. not without changing the exe)?

What are you babbling about? You can change them on the console. They're known as macros so have a peek in cvarlist
