Well fuck me in the butt, I guess that means I have a rare monitor (1600x900).

1600x900 monitors aren't rare; ones made in the past 2 years are,
Edit: I was talking about stuff currently being made, sorry if it was confusing. I have seen 1 1600x900 monitor made this year and that was on newegg.

i subsist with a 1366x768 laptop, i can't imagine anything larger than that on my desktop, and what's the deal with having edgy mouse and keyboard, generic ones do just fine.

What do we need to tell Microsoft?

1920x1080 is only considered high resolution on tablets, but not on desktop monitors, if you mean 'high resolution' in the context of desktop scaling.

That is a quad core processor; the first 8 core i7 came out a couple months ago.(The i7-5960x)
Figured it might just be hyperthreading. I didn't recall it being 8 cores either, but just took the info from dxdiag.

As far I remember, I barely saw them with such resolution except on a few Windows tablets (thankfully), although having resolutions such as 2560x1440 and 2048x1536 is a cool thing, apparently.

However, my phone's resolution is 1920x1080. :P

My phone's resolution is 1920x1080. All of my laptops are 1366x768 and under, and I hate them. There is no space for fitting windows. Games are mostly fine though.

Edit: Graf Zahl, he may be talking about 3840x2160 scaling issues in windows.

Workstation/Desktop/Server clusterfuck:
- Motherboard: ASUS P5G41T-M LX
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 @ 3.17GHz
- RAM: G.Skill RipjawsX 8GB DDR3 @ 1280MHz (9/9/9/24)
- GPU: ASUS ENGTX560 Ti
- HDD1: Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 SATA 200GB (Windows)
- HDD2: Seagate Maxtor DiamondMax 21 SATA2 160GB (Linux)
- HDD3: Western Digital Caviar Blue SATA3 1TB (Storage)
And I guess I can say I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and Arch Linux 64-bit.

Pseudo-router and auxiliary Linux system:
- Raspberry Pi Model B
- 512MB RAM (Allocated memory for GPU varies)
- 1GHz CPU (I don't even need any extra cooling for this OC)
- Arch Linux ARM

To be honest, I could care less for such resolution for a 5" screen, but it's at least more comfortable to read stuff that way (well, compared to my previous phones, at least).

I saw laptops with higher resolutions and to be honest, I'm fine with 1366x768 because my eyes would hurt from looking from such a small screen otherwise, but I do agree it's starting to be a problem when you have at least two windows side by side, so I prefer to do most of my work on my desktop computer instead.

Was that about the blurry mess some software that may appear with such resolutions?

That's the developper's choice, not Microsoft.

Look for some kind of program that gives you "workspaces" or multiple desktops on one monitor. I use Linux, and I have four workspaces arranged 2x2. You can probably find something for Windows that does the same. I'll usually put a browser in one, and depending on what I'm working on, GIMP in another, reading/schoolwork on a third, fourth contains my Pandora app, Pidgin chat and misc other stuff. It's seriously incredible and really makes life easier.
