Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
i just realized that my computer cannot run a gzdoom version 2.1 because it has a lower graphic card, thus opengl is outdated. and it still didn't worked even i updated geforce.
so it's about time to play doom with primal way, sad.

It's a good idea to keep one near by. They aren't a must-have... but it is considered essential equipment when working inside a computer/component. It'd be a shame if a dose of ESD fried a brand new component. If you don't have one, always touch the computer's case before touching a component. I can't stress this enough. You want to be grounded. If you aren't grounded, you and the equipment are susceptible to electrostatic discharge.undead003 wrote:Anti-static wristbands don't seem to be necessary though, from what some say.

You happened to post after I edited it, so I quote

Searching "ACX" and filtering graphics cards, there are no cards in the 700 series that have 4GB of VRAM and ACX cooling.
I believe two sticks of 4GB will do. I don't think I need 8+ GB of RAM.
A 750W power supply doesn't bring up alot of price difference, so I'm considering that.

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Frankly, me neither. I'm an AMD user (and I really wish I wasn't). But, off the top of my head, an i7 4770k should be suitable. It should leave plenty of upgrade power. I'd do a bit more searching before making the final call, though. The 4770k could be a little too powerful for your standards.undead003 wrote:I'm not good with any of Intel's numbers past the 5 in i5. Help me out here.

It's your call.undead003 wrote:I believe two sticks of 4GB will do. I don't think I need 8+ GB of RAM.
Not a bad thing to consider. Just remember to check if the wattage is enough to handle all of the parts you're getting.undead003 wrote:A 750W power supply doesn't bring up alot of price difference, so I'm considering that.

I'm buying from here. This is what I searched. :LCtrl+Alt+Destroy wrote:http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GTX7 ... tx+760+4gb

Looks like you're out of luck on that site, then. I don't think the ACX is a necessity anyway. Just another nice thing to have.undead003 wrote:I'm buying from here. This is what I searched. :LCtrl+Alt+Destroy wrote:http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GTX7 ... tx+760+4gb
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Actually, I'm reverting to the 2GB video card that was handed in the bundle in the first place. It's gonna cool my budget and I don't play modern titles all that much. The most resource intensive games I run are probably Bethesda's games which trouble with optimization and modding more than anything else. I will assume the processor and the RAM will do a much better job than my current system, which is decent at best, in non-graphical mods.
Updated cart, these are the parts I now consider. I took Ctrl+Alt+Destroy's advice to get a higher-watt power supply, and added an optical drive.
This is not set in stone, I'll have to wait at least one or two months. Give suggestions if you wish.

Yeah, that's a pretty solid build, I'd say. That's probably the best way to go, scince you won't be playing many modern titles anyway.
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
I am also considering switching to an AMD FX processor due to the price of the i5.

If you're choosing an FX CPU, I think the 8350 would be your best bet. Can't say that I've heard good things about the FX CPUs. If it were me, I would just cough up the extra cash and get the i5. It's your call, though.

I guess YTMND just won't load in an active desktop replacement window. I've tried an Active Desktop gadget and Wallpaper Webpage so far. However full IE loads YTMND just fine.

Welp, my mid-2012 MacBook Pro with the latest version of Mavericks now seems to have been bricked.
When I load up, a flashing folder with a question mark pops up, indicating that it can't find a startup disk. To make matters worse, when I try recovery, the laptop acts like the hard drive I normally use never existed.
I'll try again in the morning, it's midnight over here.

YouTube just activated 60FPS support. You will need Chrome and HD enabled to see it.
This is hella awesome.
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Something I've never been able to understand after so many years: how come playing Doom at 35 FPS feels choppy as fuck, but watching movies at 24 FPS or playing 30 FPS-locked games feels smoother?
