Can't let the thread without news or updates for too long. Here's what's going on:

The mod will now have a new HUD, thanks to the contribution of Endless123 who made some class specific HUDs for each Predator:

I'm also working on replace the default Doom Power ups, like the SoulSphere, MegaSphere, Invulnerability, etc for new ones, more related to the "Predator" than "Hell" or "Supernatural" themes. Expect a lot of new stuff added in the next update, which most probably should come around a week. This is my last free week until the college comes back again, so i'll try add as much content as possible. The two new classes are already enabled, although they are mostly unarmed with nothing but the blades and Plasma Casters yet, so one of my priorities right now is to make 'em playable in the next update.

I have only one question ... when will i be able to play that big Predator with the dual blades?

I really can wait to play it :D

Just tried this out, it's pretty cool! I wonder if you can borrow Sid's stealth coding from Sneaky Doom (http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=46174) or something so you can actually hide again with the cloak once you've alerted enemies? The enemies in that actively search for the player and I think they eventually give up, so they don't all home in on you instantly.

I think i'll get all ready for an update next weekend. The Heavy Pred is almost unarmed until now. Same goes with the Light one.

I've been thinking about put the enemies to sleep again after a while, so you could sneak them again while cloaked. I'll run a few tests here since i had an idea, and if all goes well, consider it done.

Great :D

I only have one request for your next release ... please choose a shorter tittle for the .pk3 archive because it's long and makes zdoom launcher hicks a lot if i don't add the "" at the beginning and the end of the tittle :lol:

Test done. The zombieman comes back to sleep after wander around the map and don't find nothing to shoot at. So consider the feature added in the next update! ;)

You mean i'll be able to play hide-and seek with the monsters? I wonder who will won :lol:

Hide-and-seek-and-destroy, to be honest :P

Of course that i have to make this "give up on searching" thing fair, so the lesser foes will loose interest on you quickly while the bigger ones will keep tracking you longer. And of course, some will never give up on finding you (mainly bosses).

Just a suggestion ... make those Pain Elemental shoot flowers instead of Lost Souls :P

I know it's not really Predator-ish but it could be hilarious :lol:

Kidding aside i have a real suggestion for you. You may already noticed that after throwing the smartdisc the predator can't attack because no weapon is selected until the recall sequence is completed. In my mod i solve the problem by automatically switching to the claws after throwing the smartdisc, that way even if it's just for a few seconds the Predator is never caught defenceless and unarmed. Maybe you could do the same too to be sure the player won't get killed because there is no weapon to use after throwing the disc.

Actually, that doesn't happen. One of the things i really like about the Disk is that you can switch between weapons even during the recall countdown. Here, take a look:

The countdown is ACS-based, so it's totally unrelated to the Disk's decorate code. Which means that i can swap between all weapons, and even use 'em until the countdown ends. And when it does, the Disk is swapped immediately.


Now... about the Pain Elemental... :lol: :lol: I guarantee you that it will spit something else besides Lost Souls... but definitely it will not be flowers, and it's gonna hurt! :P

As long as they don't shoot my ex-girlfriend speeches i would be fine :lol:

About the weapon switch, could you make it automatically switch instead of the player having to manually select a weapon for guys like me who has a brain too slow to think about selecting a weapon before getting killed by a horde of monsters?

Don't worry about it though, i'll just have to eat a chocolate bar to have enough energy to switch weapons in time :P

I would like to say that i'm in need of some spriter help. I'm inspired by those Predator toys that feature new weapons, and i wanted to have my very own Predator Sword, like one of those:

The thing is i can't drawn any. I would be very happy if someone could give me a hand on this. For now, i'll be using some Witchaven sword sprites as a place holder, but i'm not satisfied with a Predator carrying a european feudal age sword.

The closest thing a Predator has gotten to a sword is a machete sized blade. Just throwing that out there.

I know. But Predators got blades of all kinds: Wristblades, Disks, Combat Spears, Shurikens, Whips, Daggers, Axes... and they also seems to take fallen enemy weapons as trophies (like the 1715 pistol from P2 or the old Katana in Predators). I don't see why they couldn't forge their own swords.

As i recall in the Predators movie one of the predators (the falconer i think) had a VERY long blade that looked like a sword attached to his right wrist (in the fight with the Yakuza) so i figure if they have blades like that they probably has some sort of swords too. It's just they don't bring them in their hunts i guess but it doesn't mean they never use swords. As you said the Predators are kinda experts with blades of all kinds and they use them more often than their plasma weapons in their hunts as if they were reluctant to use non-bladed weapons(based on what alll the Predators movies seemed to suggest)

In short i think swords are acceptable :)
