Version 47i?

Post by HotWax »

Any chance that 47i will be released into the wild, as it were? Or has it already been? There's a post here that says it's not available to the general public, and then a whole lotta people talking about playing with it... So.. is it available or what?

If not, and 48.cab is close, I *suppose* I can still wait... impatiently.....

/me waits.

47i is a version specifically meant for testing a bit of net code to try and nail those consistency errors that have been all too common. It wasn't really intended as a public release but the very nature of net testing means a few people needed copies.

It's also worth pointing out that things must have moved on quite a bit since 47i. The version Randy has sitting on his HD has the new texture loading system and (I assume) the ability to disable the inventory bar in Doom games using MAPINFO (a feature I am keen to get my hands on). I'm sure there will be quite a few other things that Randy has tweaked too, so 47i isn't really up to date either, just more up to date than 47.

It does have a couple of obvious things in single player: Monster infighting/retaliation is back to how it should be. In earlier versions monsters would break off from attacking you if they got hit by enemy crossfire even if you had hurt the monster in question rather than only infighting if you had not already hurt the monster. The frame rate in 47i is uncapped - v sweet.

LOL. Dang thing is supposed to alert me when I get PMs. I never look up there to see if I have new ones. :P

Just send it on over to sndspmhre@hotmail.com, if you could.

Thank you, sir.

[EDIT] Heh, it has been alerting me... via email... time to enable the ol' popups. =P

You should know by now I'm not polite. I'm not impatient, either. I haven't even downloaded the .47 version. I still have that one where the plasma gun freezekills everything.

Oi! We won't allow impolite people trolling at these forums!

Sure, I tend to be a bit rude at times, but if I were here, I would have to either think THREE TIMES before I post here, or not post at all.

I meant that I can wait.
I'm not sure what you meant, however. As per the norm.

I'll wait with you guys.

Ooh, I seriously can't wait for that feature to be within my grasp. I'm just wondering though if it's possible to set status bar faces for the inventory items (Tome of Power in particular).

Now THAT would be a really cool feature. Have the Doom face grin with pleasure when he uses the Tome, or have everything but his eyes disappear when using the Shadowsphere (Quake-style)...the possibilities are endless. (Almost.)
