Summoning Decorate Monsters

Post by Galaxy_Stranger »

I've got some friendly DECORATE monsters that I summon for fun. I've noticed that they ALWAYS gravitate to due West when they start walking around. Is there a reason for this?

What's gravitate?

Do you mean they always face the same absolute direction?

They walk to the EAST of the map as they wander.

It could be the layout of your map and the 8-direction limitation that is inherent to the monster AI. If your passages are narrow, try widening them a bit so they can turn around more easily. :P

oh, no - this is in wide-open spaces. If I go around the room and place a bunch of DECORATE monsters in random places, they all appear and stand there. Then, I fire a weapon and they all wake up. They'll walk around in seemingly random directions, but they'll eventually start walking due EAST and keep trying to walk through the wall.

I just noticed I put WEST by accident.

The stranger to the galaxy is correct. Any and all friendly monsters will wander east, if there is no unfriendly monster for it to kill, and if it was previously woken up.

Why is that? They didn't do that in STRIFE did they? Or are these different from the STIFE people.

They do it in Strife as well. Just observe the 2 walking peasants in the town. They tend to wander eastwards as well. This really should be randomized better.
