While browsing around the forums, I sometimes, but very rarely, read the term "ZCode".
I'm curious as to what this is, so anyone mind tellin' me?
What is "ZCode"?
Re: What is "ZCode"?
I can only find one other use of the word "ZCode" in a thread from 2005. Archaic questions aside, it's referring to an old concept referred to as DoomScript, later renamed to ZScript. Basically, it's a concept where instead of relying on an interpreter to give you a specific sheet of functions that do specific tasks, you are given an even lower level of functionality that allows you to control objects or events a much more direct level. Well either that or just a much more advance version of Decorate and ACC combined. What it was supposed to do as an idea keeps changing.
It exists, but only as an incomplete backend.

Oh yes... the Unrealscript of ZDoom... that would have been lovely for me.
Re: What is "ZCode"?
It's the Promised Land of ZDoom modding. Randi has been away because he is doing the pilgrimage to ZDoomScript nirvana. When he returns from his pilgrimage, he will lead us all into the Promised Land.

Either that, or somebody told him about another WoW expansion.Nash wrote:Randi has been away because he is doing the pilgrimage to ZDoomScript nirvana.
Re: What is "ZCode"?
Interesting. Well, if this ever gets implemented, decorate and ACS would still be in for backwards compatibility. Correct?
Either way, this sounds cool just from how everyone words it. "Promised land of Doom modding."

Re: What is "ZCode"?
Of course ACS and DECORATE would be in, nearly every ZDoom mod uses those.
