Re: The WIP Thread
I think Pixiv doesn't allow hotlinking. I suggest Imgur or Majhost.

Yeah, it's 403 forbidden for me as well.
Also, the reference with the imp head, is from Dumbass Doom.

Re: The WIP Thread
I'm confused
Re: The WIP Thread
sendbuffer is a combined buffer of the short (2 byte) header plus the actual buffer. And while I'm sending sendbuffer, I accidentally used the length of buffer, which will end up being 2 bytes shorter. This will mean missing two bytes at the end of every message.

Re: The WIP Thread
Yeah, I can't exactly read C# well. You'd be surprised I don't even know how to do basic I/O with it.
Re: The WIP Thread
Apparently half of what I do is magic at the moment, it seems.
I'm sort of surprised, actually. ZDoom has a far less programmer-to-modder/user ratio then I initially thought. You would think that something as old as Doom would usually have an older, more technically oriented userbase. Yet we still keep getting new users around 13-15 years old.

Re: The WIP Thread
Well, I'm an old-fashioned hacker, I'm only experienced in C and x86 assembly. Though I have tinkered around with other languages like C++, Java, Python, PHP, Perl, Ruby and BASIC, all of which I find really ugly.
Re: The WIP Thread
All of the tech-savvy programmers are pouring their attention to teh latest grafic's like Unreal Engine 4, CryEngine, Unity, etc... no one cares about Doom anymore! D:

Re: The WIP Thread
You know how grumpy I am when it comes to talking about modern engines, but at least I have good things to say about Unreal Engine, like just how absurdly optimized it is (as it has always been). I'm pretty sure the only tech-savvy programmers that stay with Doom are people like me.
I'm certainly not, youngsters these days only care about the newest and latest gimmicks, and just want to get things done from the get go, with minimal effort. They're also heavily attracted by shiny things and fancy buzzwords.TheBadHustlex wrote:Are you surprised...?

I need to choose an engine to make a 3D game next year as a project for uni, any recommendations?

Re: The WIP Thread
I'd recommend Unity since it seems to be the "easiest" one, judging from the sheer density of games that come out using it.
