auto save timer
Okay so i know Zdoom already has a auto save feature but it only happens when you beat a level, what i am suggesting is make a new auto save that on a timer that you can set up to save every 2 minutes or something, why am i suggesting this, well i play a lot of big maps, and well i forget to save quite a bit, and i know that my own fault and i admit it, and i don't think this is something all that hard to put in, now it may already be in a newer version of zdoom that i don't have or maybe somewhere in the version i currently have, and i can't seem to found it, so yeah i know that this is a simple feature but i think a lot of people will like it, and if you don't there should be away for you to be able to turn it off, also it would help those who accidentally close the game near the end of the level and forget to save (agin talking from my own stupid experience) all around i think this will be a helpful feature, (if it's not already in a newer build or something)
again but it dot point form
-make a timer that saves the game every few minutes
-make it a toggle if you want it on or not
-set how much time for the timer to save
-and also how many saves do you want form this feature and once it hits the max it will save over the oldest
what do you guys think of this feature,

Why did this need a poll?
Also, I'm welling to bet this will be no'ed, because the autosave system is designed to be a mimic of Hexen's, and nothing more, really.

Re: auto save timer
Since this is easily done with a small global ACS script I see no point adding it as an engine feature.

Re: auto save timer
The biggest "danger" with something like this is inappropriate timing of saves. e.g. a save when a rocket is just about to unavoidably explode in your face or perhaps just the slight stutter of the saving process that sometimes happens could be enough to throw you off at a critical point during your playing.
So, it's not something I would want so I wouldn't use the feature (I know the feature has already been [no]'d) and I wouldn't like a WAD to do it either. However, I have sometimes forgotten to save while playing and then regretted how far back a death has put me so I can see the use in the idea even though I wouldn't really want it myself.

Re: auto save timer
It would be my advice to use the quicksave. I've often played with a ahrd save at the beginning of the map and quicksaves throughout. I save games so much that when I hear people lose literal hours of progress from failing to save at any point, I find it really hard to feel sorry for them.
