can I use ZDoom with all versions of Doom?
Hi, a friend of mine downloaded ZDoom so we could lan doom at work. I really like playing doom with all the improved rendering and extra features. Problem is that I'm only able to play Doom2 right now. I actually own the Doom collectors edition with D 1 & 2 & Final Doom ect... but I only like playing with ZDoom (plus the collectors edition doesn't like my mouse).
So how do I run my other Doom games using zDoom?
Thanks, sorry if this it totally newbified. I never played much doom before. I went straight from Blood to Half-Life.

- Don't use v1.22, it's many years old and horribly outdated. I recommending using this extremely recent version instead.
- You can't go higher than 8-bit. Sorry.
- Not sure why you can't go fullscreen, but try out the newer version linked to above and see if the same thing still happens.

Thanks!
The download link on the main page confused me at first. I clicked the source link... became confused.... and promptly scrolled down the page to find something that made sense.
So I have the latest version and its working great. I would say more but I have a lot of killing to do and precious little time.
Thanks!

No problem
.
BTW to answer your initial question, ZDoom works with all the Dooms... as well as Heretic, Hexen and Strife
. To play them, just extract ZDoom to a directory with the relevant IWAD (the file with the .wad extension, i.e. doom.wad, doom2.wad, heretic.wad, etc) and run it.
You can even have more than one game IWAD in the same directory, in which case ZDoom will present you with a menu asking you which game you want to play.

I focking love blood. I haven't tried zdoom with it, but I will in a minute. Currently Blood runs like total ass on my home maching and work machine. I used to have the CDs but I lost them a while ago.
Anyway, I just played thru Episode I with ZDoomGL. I like the GL renderer a lot. But then I crashed on the second level of Episode II. I was pressing tab to check the map and it went down
I'm gonna try see if I can get Blood running thru ZDoom. That would r0ck!
