And the fact they tried to go after Mario for the tanooki suit - more than 20 years after the fact. GG, tossers.

since i have a map in Rogue Legacy that's completely cleared out now, and have all 4 Obols collected now, my next goal is to beat all the Neo forms of the bosses. that is probably going to involve a lot of cursing and tears.

Yano... I'd totally play a Minecraft modpack that realized a few things:
-IC2 is overcomplicated and should be replaced with other mods
-ICBM is kinda fun for PvP
-A stable metaworld could EASILY be like a supership and Archimedes Airships could be like the light refuelers
-Ender IO and Thermal Expansion together pretty much replace any need for IC2's tech and power generation

Found out about Quake HD and I'm having a blast with it! Had to turn off offset mapping (gives some of the HD textures a pseudo 3d lighting effect) but the game still looks amazing.

It also comes with the Small Mod Compilation, which by default adds in unused aesthetic animations for some monsters (the grunt will sometimes pump his shotgun complete with it's own sound, the knight will sometimes get on his knee and pray (the sound for this reminds me of the intro to Van Halen's Seventh Seal), and the ogre will sometimes rev his chainsaw which makes noise for a short while.)

Although there was really very little about Doom3 that impressed me, I just reminded myself that did find some things, like these obviously original Doom inspired computers, quite neat:

Finally got my Steam API plugin for DarkBASIC Pro working. It's essentially complete except one (non-essential) command doesn't work.

I think Quake Epsilon is better, also comes with high-res textures, a few higher polygon models (and high-res skins for the rest), and also comes with a compilation of various small enhancement mods.

Though my computer can't run it on Ultra or High quality, Medium quality is still extremely good. I also love the alternate music pack distributed along with it.

Epsilon uses parallax mapping which makes the game look much better. It works in this game's case too since most of the game is bricks, wood, and other bumpy things. It's hard to tell that the game was made so long ago with the low poly bsp mapping.

I am usually a bit prejudiced against high-res packs for old games myself. They usually clash with the original feel of the game to much for me, but Quake Epsilon really did a great job I think.

i don't really like some of the sound-effects in that Epsilon pack. also, NIN's original soundtrack is better than that generic industrial rock i hear there. i might give it a try just to see how it feels like, though.
