Passing By - A Doom Level

Post by cce »

Image

Passing By is a single Doom 1 level that features:
  • varying environments
  • 5 secret rooms
  • a custom MIDI soundtrack

It's my first proper WAD, so please give me some harsh and critical feedback, if possible!

I almost do not dare... I smell a Terry trap. Regardless, I'll feed thee back when I get home!

You assume it's a Terry trap before even playing it? What the hell, man...

It can't be, there's no grandiose description claiming that this is the greatest addon ever released for Doom.

I just gave it a ran, the midi isn't bad, neither is the map. You did a good job. Though the 'custom texture' could use a different name so it doesn't replace the default Doom textures, but other than that, it isn't that half bad.

It does have a little Episode 1 and I think.. late-episode 2/3 feel to it. But over all, not bad. Not bad at all.

These screens look nice. I should have a playthrough complete here in a little bit.

It plays pretty well. As someone with no real mapping skills, I'm afraid I can't offer much in the way of criticism or suggestions, but I can say I enjoyed it well enough for a brief romp.

However, I have a couple of secret-based questions...

Might wanna go over the wall textures so they align properly. Looking at them and pressing A and Shift+A in the editor goes a long way :)

I liked how you made a small area play like a big one, and how you made it open like a DM-map rather than just corridor-room-corridor-room.

I don't want to push this further, but I thought ZanZan was some old mod.

Which brings us full circle, because that was the source of the original confusion, I'm sure.
