Brutal Doom editing with Slade

Post by rummy00 »

I am editing Brutal Doom with Slade, currently i am editing the head hud thing, but i cannot find it, i am trying to replace doomguys head with my own custom one, but i've searched through all the folders, and the sprites are not anywhere! what can i do?

I don't think Brutal Doom has its own mugshot graphics. If any, they are from the original Doom IWADs (Ultimate Doom, Doom 2 and Final Doom).

Yeah, but how would I make my own mugshot graphics appear?

Give each individual custom mugshot graphic the same name as its original counterpart.

You can open the IWAD doom or doom2 with slade and find the files, export them and change them ect, if you put them in the sprites folder on BD it will work as a patch and replace them as long as the names are exactly the same as they appear in the IWAD. Be sure to place them back into slade and get your offsets right before you export them as lmp files and put them in BD, you should also be able to upload them as BMP or PNG but as far as them replacing the origninals like a patch im not sure but it should work. If not you know the problem

I pasted them in the sprites folder, but it was black and white, like the sprites were glitched, and when i loaded up the game it still did nothing! any specific folder i need to place them in?

No no, be sure to export them as png files with slade. You have to right click them and hit export as png, and you might have to do it one at a time because i dont think the option pops with more than one selected. If the names are right they should have replaced them and if they didnt its beyond me, but you could load them into a wad file of your own just as they appear in the original wad and then just place that wad into the BD.PK3, and they should replace as a patch

Thank you for helping Pike, I think i'll just modify the DOOM2 wad and go from there, at least then I can have a guaranteed mugshot replacement. Thanks again!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Don't do that!
It's bad!
Put them in a different wad, do NOT edit DOOM2.wad!
