successful zoom beta test

Post by SargeBaldy »

a few of us on the zoom team tested some races on 47i using the new -netmode 1 and it ran very well (and quite smooth too, even for me on 56k :) this was actually only the second time we've tested zoom multiplayer (and the first time nami or i played it this way) because the original p2p mode was buggy enough it was almost impossible to start a game. anyway, nice work with the changes randy! :)

Zoom and 47i...

Post by Lexus Alyus »

How does Zoom work? What is it, is it like a real racing simulation? I'm intrigued...

Also, this 47i.cab... is it available to the public? I think it might resolve this problem I'm having with unknown crashes (See bugs section, lilwhitemouse gets it too...).

zoom is a racing mod, without cars. our website is here: http://xfury.net/zoom/index.html
ask nami for the scripting details :)

and no, 47i isn't available to the public, you'll need to wait until 48.cab comes out :/

ZooM is a ZDoom racing mod. It has new powerups (like other racing games) that give you a random item. It also has variable laps and other such things. Right now the lap scripting needs some work (only minor things, and I just fixed one problem) but it's almost perfect. I'm about to make the code a bit nicer too actually.

If you want details, go to http://xfury.net/zoom =)

I enjoyed testing. Nami did you find out about/solve that weird 22240240 laps left bug?

I'm not sure. I changed the code some and schepe looked at it and shortened it a little (He didn't make many changes so I must've written it pretty well =) but I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

By the way, we've introduced a new weapon so there's even more ways to kill people. =P

This whole killing bit strikes me as being very unsportsmanlike.

That's the whole point!

When is ZooM Ever going to get finished? I'm eagerly awaiting the demo.
