Future ZDoom Community Project(s)
Since the current three community projects should be finished within the forseeable future (i.e. by the end of the year), I was curious as to what everyone would like to see done next. So, have it!
EDIT: yes, the poll reflects EXISTING levels only. Okay so community projects can obviously be entirely from scratch, but I'm more interested in finding out which existing levels people would like to see improved than what type of community project people think should be created - if you want to do that, make your own poll! .

When I said 'another episode / set of levels', I meant an existing episode or set of levels, hence 'which do you want most to be "ZDoom-ified"?' (most people don't make their levels in non-ZDoom format and then add ZDoom features afterwards )
The current/previous ZDoom Community projects have been one or two-month things. An entirely new episode from scratch would take much longer, and it's extremely unlikely that we could generate and sustain enough interest in it.

Not really. How would such a "community project" be any different than the dozens of other entirely original projects already being created? As I said, it would be difficult to maintain community interest in such project, and it would just turn into a team-based effort rather quickly. I mean, to an extent this has already happen with the existing supposedly community projects.
Put it this way: KDIZD was started on August 21st, and is likely to be finished around the middle of November; that's less than 3 months. Now, imagine how long a brand new 9 level episode typically takes to make - more like a year! (and that's a somewhat optimistic estimate ).
Many people involved in the making of KDIZD ran out of time and/or interest in just the short amount of time it's been being worked on, so can you imagine trying to sutain a team over a significantly longer period of time? These community projects are meant as a diversion from the larger-scale projects, not to be large-scale projects in themselves.

You know what I want? Something more original! I'm happy that E1 is being fully realized - because it's the most classic and everything - but do we need more of these rehashes?
Why not decide on some kind of theme - I would really love to see a modern ZDoom-ized version of Wolfenstein, with new levels and a more World War 2 accurate atmosphere. So, in essence, RtCW for ZDoom pretty much...

Nazi Invasion would be able to help in that sort of project. QUITE A BIT has changed since the last version i uploaded, yet tweaks are still being done.wildweasel wrote: I would really love to see a modern ZDoom-ized version of Wolfenstein, with new levels and a more World War 2 accurate atmosphere. Talking of Wolf, I'd love to see Laz' stuff fixed. Some of them work just fine, but some rely on customised BOOM .exe files (key dropping) or are split into two due to limitations in DeHackEd (arctic wolf). AFAIK, there's nothing in any of his stuff that can't be done with DECORATE and MAPINFO. Whether he would allow it is another matter.

Levels, but no one said anything about resources.
Anyway, You know what I would say about resources
Interest and motivation are different tough. You need a strong reliable team.

You do know that You won't make good wine in couple days. The longer time it takes the better.NiGHTMARE wrote:The current/previous ZDoom Community projects have been one or two-month things.
