Brütal Doom v0.18

I'm stuck at work until 10 and v19 is already up? It's the waiting that kills me D:

So excited though!
Its not v19, its v19test1
I think you are new here, so I will explain: during the development of new versions, I occasionally post SVNs on this forum for purposes of testing new features. These are non official versions and might include incomplete work.

Oh, yeah, that was supposed to be for a joke video, but I forgot to remove it, the code slipped through :P
Don't take this seriously. It's not gonna make up to the next test version.

Just tested the v19test. It's HEROIN and you, sergeant are a drug dealer!! ;-)
Here some points:
1. At one time the entire body of a grunt flew on the wall and sticked there for some time. I dont know if that was a bug or intentionally, but anyway, I LOLed. It looked extremely comic like, like roadrunner-style or something.
2. I already mentioned: I would find it supercool when the gibs on the ceiling would drip with blood heavily, about 2 drops per second. I think it will not be very computerpower intense because the gibs stay on the ceiling only for a few seconds.
3. When the gibs fall from the ceiling they rotate, which is cool. But sometimes they start rotating a bit too early, even when they are still on the ceiling, I have the feeling.
4. Gatling, alternate firemode: As it fires much faster in the alternate firemode, is it possible to let the firing sound also go faster? Gives the right feeling, otherwise a new player may not even realize that the gun fires faster in the alternate mode and will ask what the point of this mode for this gun is.
5. Blood is still dripping synchronised from the ceiling sometimes (many drops fall down at the same time) Can this be randomised a bit?
6, Same for the braingib pieces on the wall. Would be good when each individual piece would have its own duration of sticking and speed of gliding down. Apart from this I find the shape of these braingibs strange.
7. When barrels explode, the blood and gibs from nearby enemies should fly with great force onto the walls.
8. Now I have realized the difference in the smoke but I find it should stay much longer in the air.
9. When you have a rising ceiling and there is blood on it, the blood is kind of jittering. I noticed this effect already in your Youtube video with the machine.

Yay new versio. One problem. Realgore addon doesn't work with this versio.

That was fun! It reminded me of the "Will it Blend?" videos.

It would be great if you could make some new sprite work for when enemies get crushed by ceilings though (something like having them trying to push the ceiling upwards with their arms before getting stuck on the ground helplessly crawling), since it looks kind of silly to see a grunt getting dismembered or an imp getting its abdomen cut from just getting crushed by a ceiling.

In this video I am missing sounds of crushing bones when the machine goes totally down to the bottom. ;-)

I finally fixed the dumb marines. They are not useless brain dead lifeless simple bots anymore. Now they can talk, they will follow you, put a real fight against enemies, perform fatalities, and more. They are still not perfect, I need to fix some stuff, add more voices, more interactions, but they will be far better than any other companion ever made for Zdoom.

On the final version, they will also sometimes give you health and ammo.

After I release Brutal Doom v19, I will release these marines on a separated mod.

Oh wow, sticky gibs. That's amazing. Man, Brutal Doom can't get any better.

/watches Meet the MARINES/

Seriously. EVERY TIME I THINK IT, he makes it better.

Can't wait to try it ><

Wait, they duck too? Gaaah!

Good to see you made them smarter, though they seem to stick to you a little too well. Can you adjust the follow distance and make them back up a bit? It looks like they're so focused on following you that they ignore enemies till they get close again first.

Can you push marines away? Narrow place they seems block way much. Can you order them stop, follow, attack?

That video just made my day, those Marines were awesome! I am gonna hate fighting them when an Arch-Vile gets ahold of them...

One suggestion though, give them an entire sound set instead of lines from different games? Counter-Strike, AvP, C&C Renegade (which is in use somewhat), and Half-Life Opposing Force come to mind.

Also like PaskaTykki said, they might get in the way at times, maybe you could tap the "use" key on them and they will back away 10-20 feet from the player?

Then later on we can get a separate hot key menu to customize in the controls for the Marines, similar to Unreal Tournament. ^^

Can you add Imps same fire death like Zombies? Its much cooler compare to standing and suffer. :)
