Ways to contribute to the Doom community.
Re: Ways to contribute to the Doom community.
Speaking of reviews, anybody volunteering to write articles for [wiki=Category:Cleanup]the mods there[/wiki] or there would be nice.
Re: Ways to contribute to the Doom community.
I thinked Happy Time Circus had more things than that O_o on the wiki.
maybe I could do something but I would not put pictures...
Also I think I put my mod on the list of notable wads would be a bit egoist from my part...

I said write articles for the stuff that is already listed; not plug in your own projects!
(Unless said project got something like a Cacoward or otherwise got plenty of community staples to say it was good.)

A detailed review of Assault on Tei Tenga can be found here. It is not written in the style of a wiki (i.e., it is less factual and more opinionated). However, it can be modified to suit the wiki article for that wad.Gez wrote:Speaking of reviews, anybody volunteering to write articles for [wiki=Category:Cleanup]the mods there[/wiki] ... would be nice.
[EDIT: I volunteer to update the wiki article for Tei Tenga, but I can't figure out how to edit the stub. I started looking through the wiki thread, but its 32 pages long and I quickly gave up. Please tell me how you'd like me to handle the update. Also, it would be a good idea to provide the wiki editing instructions an the top of the wiki-related forum thread I linked.]

Re: Ways to contribute to the Doom community.
I'm not going to just copy/paste reviews from other sites into a wiki because text in a wiki is under copyleft.
Re: Ways to contribute to the Doom community.
Agreed. I was not suggesting a copy-paste, particularly as the review features opinions. However, the factual aspects can be extracted, which I volunteered to do in the Edit to my post.Gez wrote:I'm not going to just copy/paste reviews from other sites into a wiki because text in a wiki is under copyleft.
Re: Ways to contribute to the Doom community.
The way I see it, a mod article on the ZDoom wiki should cover a brief description of the mod to present it, say how it uses ZDoom features, give a paragraph for the story and another for the gameplay, and provide between 2 and 5 screenshots. See [wiki]Dark Deity's Bastion[/wiki] for an example of what I mean. It can be longer if justified, of course.
Re: Ways to contribute to the Doom community.
Actually, what I was asking for was how the actual page editing could be done. The ZDooM wiki does not seem to allow public/anonymous modification of pages, but I may just have missed something. In that case, is it correct to assume that an account is required?Gez wrote:The way I see it, a mod article on the ZDoom wiki should cover a brief description of the mod to present it....
[Edit: Never mind. It turns out that I already had an account. I will update the stub.]
[Edit: I have updated the article. However, for some reason, the links to DooM, ZDooM, and Doomworld are dead.]

Fixed them.ReX wrote:[Edit: I have updated the article. However, for some reason, the links to DooM, ZDooM, and Doomworld are dead.]
For the first two, you're supposed to write them as Doom and ZDoom. As for Doomworld, you enclosed the name alongside with the full stop between the tag markers, when in fact it should only be the name alone.

Excellent, thanks.Blue Shadow wrote:Fixed them.ReX wrote:[Edit: I have updated the article. However, for some reason, the links to DooM, ZDooM, and Doomworld are dead.]
I may do more wiki updates when I have the time.
To OP, I didn't mean to derail your thread. But this is a good example of collaboration within the DooM community.

Don't worry about the derail. Doesn't bother me at all.
Thanks for the suggestions, by the way. Been mulling it over while working on my college stuff. I wanna try my hand at mapping and Decorate when I have more free time (something that's in short supply when I'm a student). I know I can provide feedback, do reviews, and/or offer a hand with the Wiki while in college though so I may focus on that for the time being until I have more time to try mapping and Decorate.
Once again, thanks for the suggestions and feedback everyone. I really appreciate it.
