G'haa, that was a fantastic episode. A really effective moral, some great humor, and full-on Applejack at her best and brightest.

I think that episode is my favorite one of the season so far. Everything came together really well, and though the square dance song could've had a bit more work put in as far as variety in lyrics, it was still an enjoyable listen (which is a rare thing for me).

It was a good episode. I'm a fan of Magic Duel and Sleepless in Ponyville, due to the characters in it. But this one is a fun little episode.

That "dragon code of honor" seemed quite out of place though. I mean, in Dragon Quest episode, other dragons were portrayed as a bunch of renegades. Plus, TS explicitly says that ponies know "next to nothing about dragons". And Spike spent his entire life among ponies. So it seems unlikely Spike would know about some dragon code, let alone take it so seriously.

So it seems unlikely Spike would know about some dragon code, let alone take it so seriously.

perhaps he knew it by instinct? just because he has lived among ponies for his whole life doesn't necessarily mean that he's forgotten all about his dragon instincts. being saved from an early doom by Applejack must have triggered a chemical reaction in his brain which makes him feel that he owes his life to serve her until her lifespan is no more. something similar might have happened when Twilight hatched the egg Spike was lying inside, too.

as for the deceptionist teenage dragons, they might have been either corrupted by something similar that Spike got under, when he grew prematurely into a giant dragon because of greed, and the dragons in that pit didn't seem like an all-good bunch to me. perhaps living with ponies affected Spike's general state of mind as a dragon? because all of the other dragons in the show haven't been exactly as well-behaved as Spike have been...
