Link? I wanna see if it's legit. Until then I'm taking that whole thing with a pinch of salt. Not that I have a huge problem with it, now that I've had time to reflect on it.

Let's keep objective for a minute - Twilight becoming an alicorn is not just some one-off slice of life occurrence - it's a major, life-twisting event which will probably completely change the direction the show is going in. I for one welcome that. I trust the animators/writers behind the show to make it entertaining and interesting - after all, just looking into 22-minute snapshots of the ordinary daily lives of these ponies is entertaining, interesting, and at times downright crazy. Documenting Twilight's ascension to godhood should prove to be a hell of a ride.

Maybe she'll supersede Celestia? Maybe she'll make new friends? Maybe she'll be the one giving the friendship lessons? There's a lot of potential here and I'm excited for it. I don't understand why it's that big a deal. So she gets wings and a longer horn. Big whucking foop. We don't know anything else yet, but she's still gonna be Twilight Sparkle, right? If she magically digivolves at the end of S3, then the confirmed S4 will definitely be different, granted, but at least we know it's not the end of her character.

Furthermore, the fact that S3 is only to be 13 episodes could suggest that S4 will be of equal length... and maybe like a feature-length, plot-heavy storyline. Who knows, maybe Twilight's alicornhood will only be temporary - she could even lose it at the end, halfway through, or even at the start of S4. (That could potentially give me some good ideas for Godhood. Oh wait, they're my ideas already, mwahahaha.)

Regarding Derpy, I'm indifferent. On one hand it could be something of an overreaction by the censors to have her removed entirely from future series, but on the other hand, she did receive complaints. It's out of Hasbro's control whether viewers get offended by the name "Derpy" (unfortunately). Let's not forget that Amy Keating Rogers (the writer responsible for the episode in which Derpy spoke and was referenced by name) has a disabled child of her own, and was fully behind the removal of the mention of Derpy's name - she felt responsible for the backlash the character received, having not known the actual definition of "derpy". Now, I'm not going to defend censorship, but I think Hasbro made the right decision. It could've been much worse - they could've been asked to remove her from all the previous episodes, for one thing. I think it's the fanbase who are the ones that need to have a good look at themselves. All this "Save Derpy" business was akin to the Kony 2012 "campaign", and some of them react so childishly all because a pony that appeared a few times in the background isn't getting the supposedly deserved attention by the writers/animators. Umm... those people kind of have to make episodes which focus on the actual characters, otherwise they don't have a show. As I understand it, writing for a children's show is extremely difficult, and pandering to a fanbase of 20-somethings is probably not something that appears on their radar first and foremost.

In short, it's a bit sad that Derpy won't be appearing in future episodes, but the silver lining is that the fandom now can do what they bally want with her.

Frankly I think the Derpy decision was the only one they could make after committing that horrendous oversight last season. Abject pandering to the fans without doing their homework always invites disaster. It put me in mind of Moe being prank-called by Bart and tricked into shouting out rude names. It was one of those moments that told me the senior management in charge of the show are the barely-aware-of-their-surroundings business types that cause so much network interference in other shows. But then, that shouldn't be a surprise since, ultimately, it's a show promoting a product line for a toy company.

I'll probably stick around until next season, but if it's as bad as that post is hinting at, that'll be it for me.

Relax kids, it is most likely just a hoax started by some skillfull troll. Many things just don't add up about it, here it is summed up in nice graphical form:

TS-becoming-an-alicorn is a pretty old fanfic, but after the Crystal Empire episode, it came into wider cognizance. It was mainly fueled by speculations about that black book Luna conjures up near the very end of that episode (I was quite curious about it, too). The book had stars and curly pattern (swirl) on in, so it had presumably something to do with Star Swirl the Bearded. Plus, Celestia mentions something about "next level of TS's studies". Then, somebody brought up that fanfic and for some arcane reason, everybody assumed that TS is really going to become an alicorn, or even Celestia's successor. How this totally unsubstantiated assumption got started, we will never know, but such a thing is obviously "sensitive" enough to stir up the fandom big time.

So anyway, something important will probably happen to TS in S3 finale, but I highly doubt it will be permanent. My guess is that Celestia knows about some prophesy about some nasty villain (or maybe some cosmic catastrophe Star Swirl predicted) and simply trains her super soldier TS to be at her highest possible power to avert it. Because fo far, Celestia obviously knew about all major villains, or at least knew what to do should they (re)appear:

-TS warns Celestia about Nightmare Moon's return, but Celestia sends her (seemingly illogically) to oversee a petty parade preparations in some Celestia-forsaken mudhole town. But this "suddenly" proves to be a right thing do to, because TS meets other 5 characters there.

-Later we learn that TS has "special magical connection" with other 5 characters. Coincidence?

-In Discord episode, Celestia seemed to know that she should send TS's letters back, to kick her into the right direction. Coincidence?

-And in Crystal Empire, Celestia seems all too confident that TS will succeed again and even provides rather detailed mission info.

So as I said, Celestia IMO just prepares TS for some other dirty work, so that she can sip tea in her castle without being inconvenienced by doing it herself... again.

As for some more positive news, episode 7 got leaked. Anyone seen it yet? Should I watch that crappy leaked version or is it worth waiting for HD aired version?

Actually, the rumor about TS alicorn started right after Crystal Empire aired, I think it began in MLP Wiki editors community. That Reddit troll just used it and by doing it, he practically struck pure troll gold. So I give him 5/5 for the idea, but only 3/5 for the implementation - if he/she published it on EQD (or other trustworthy MLP site), it would have been much, much more difficult to dismiss. I would give him/her just 2/5, but he/she has pretty good grammar (as far as I can tell, that is), which is definitely not so common occurence with these... types.

Anyway, what's the story with that leaked episode? Is it good (and therefore worth the wait for HD version) or is it mediocre, so I won't miss much if I watch that blurry leaked version?
