Thanks for comments and suggestions. Today I start making new version of browngrn (as I say before, this is really difficult texture). This one is not tiled yet, but in my opinion looks much better then last version and is much more like original, then the one from dhtp pack.
hey Reinchard,
screenshot of your exit doors looks like its using parallax mapping. It this in-games screen?
does any of Doom port support it?
I did few Doom textures with normal maps and specular maps and they really look 3D in-game,
but I am using them in my port of Doom to BUILD engine (the one that suported Duke nukem3D here is screen of gore and brick texture -medium quality with parallax
Spoiler:
anyways just wanted to ask if you can achieve paralax mapping in any Doom ports.
Nice screens. No, there is no parallax occlusion support in any of Doom mods. Doom is 2d (2.5d?) so i guess the normal or displacement maps are impossible to use in it. Or maybe I'm wrong? Build engine is 2d and have parallax?
Yes, this brown line is bug of JDoom. The wet looking of lower part is doing on purpose. If I can do something else, which does not destroy the similarity to original, then I made this. Look at the original texture.
You're right, thanks guys, I try do something with this.
In the meantime I redesign STARTAN3, becouse the old one pissed me off. This one is not finished, but I try make something as close to the original as possible. Tell me what you think about this one (is not complete yet, and no tile, so here are ingame screens):
I decide to upload first demo of my textures. This file contain all textures and flats for E1M1 Hangar and few textures from other E1 levels. There are some textures that I don't show on this forum and there is some placeholders and unfinished ones (I don't have much time for now, so I decide to share this in that form). Play with it and give me some constructive criticism.
