This is actually supposed to be a logo. It's also plastered on many of the crates in the game.gerolf wrote:If you did so, maybe make that triangle a "CAUTION" sign.
I will look into that.Possibly replace the piston thing (which I think is the main part that gives it a "lift" impression for me) with some sort of access pad or big latch that would look like something you would interact with to make the door open?
Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
That door looks awesome, cartoony and Doomy at the same time.
Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
Maybe some level of asymmetry will help? A lot of doors aren't symmetrical in the real world, by nature of the their opening mechanism, whether knob or keypad (not to mention hinges and such.) In-game... whether that would help I guess depends on room layout and the like. A room full of repeating wall textures should make a singular, asymmetrical texture stand out more. But at the same time, again, just embedding it in an alcove that stands out from the rest of the room decoration usually had the same effect. So... I dunno. Blasted, nonstandard, ceiling-retracting techdoors.Project Dark Fox wrote:Suggestions, then?

I agree it's not very door-ish at the moment, but I still like the texture. It screams "Chemical Plant Zone" at me.
Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
Looks like something you might need to interact with in a level to get something else working, or perhaps just for "flavor" on walls, if you had the pistony-thing moving up and down.

Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
The hydraulics (as what they're supposed to look like) could probably be used in something even more lift-like, sure. As most of the doors are in alcoves of sorts anyways (or their colors don't match with the wall), they do seem to work for now. I'll try to leave it as-is and see how it goes.

Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
I need more lines for Massmouth to say when he presents an item to the players in Doomvengers, and I need 4 more bosses at minimum for a Doomvengers add-on (this counts a boss Kinsie was telling me about for Reelism that I'm reserving a slot for).
Firstly, any and all submissions for lines (nothing too long, they have to go onscreen) that Massmouth can say when presenting an item are welcome. Keep in mind that the whole idea is that The Worm is funding the Doomvengers because losing a planet means he has less options for things to collect. It's not particularly altruistic. Pm suggestions or ideas to me, tell me on IRC, say them here (though I'd hate to clutter the thread), whatever.
Secondly, if anyone knows of any bosses from Doom wads that would work in Doomvengers (something that could be presented in a Tongue-in-cheek fashion, but is not necessarily silly on its own), that would be great.
I've also been told that it might be interesting to hold a boss competition, but I'd need to gauge interest first. If you're interested in that, do tell. If there are more than 4 quality bosses submitted, I'll totally include them! Things referential to a Doom Wad, the community in general, etc. are preferred, though something that is just kind of silly likely works, too. The current boss list includes Jitterskull, 1337man, and Dog Pope, so the net is pretty wide.
