The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
That's because everyone was too busy raging about how instead of continuing from the cliffhanger the original Crysis ended in (I haven't played it through), it just jumped into the future because fuck you, that's why.

Just tried Retroblazer (http://www.retroblazer.com/). I was just like DUUUDDDDEEEE. The game is like Wolfestein 3d + Megaman + old scifi animes.
No seriously, this is awesome (oh, the music!).

Rage is a great game. I think lot of the negativity came from people assuming that it was going to be like Doom 3, or from the belief that ID Software had "jumped the shark". However, Rage doesn't have a lot of common with Doom 3. Some of the weapons are similar, but that's it.
One of features that I think is noteworthy is the quick-use inventory, which changes the nature of the combat quite drastically. Usable items include stuff like grenades, wingsticks (they're kinda like smart boomerangs), RC car bombs, turrets, drones and so on. And you can build them yourself from random crap you can find lying around. And while ID Software's games have always been technically impressive, Rage is also pretty damned stylish. Seriously, they managed to insert lot of personality in the game's various towns and settlements.

It's not great, but it's not bad. The combat is pretty solid for a shooter. It's just has lots of little flaws that keep it from being memorable. Lackluster story, enemy variety could have been better, the driving stuff is an okay bonus but it's all mediocre... the end game is also really, really poorly done.Project Dark Fox wrote:So why do I keep hearing people to steer clear of this game? I nearly picked it up in a Steam Sale, but had to resist in fear of overspending.Ghastly_dragon wrote:Finished Rage. Not a bad game at all. As shooters go, it was quite long, and had a hell of a lot of variety! The gun-play as well was really satisfying, even if there were a few ammo types I didn't really use often.
Get it for cheaps if you're going to get it.

When I get settled in then (and I did find an apartment, but I do not move until the 14th), I'll wait for a ten dollar price tag. I mean, I liked Duke Nukem Forever. Surely my taste in games isn't that great.

My main problem with RAGE is that I can't find it on the PC for the life of me... Is it for consoles only?

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
The primary issue with Rage was that, as Carmack mentioned and apologized for in this years keynote, the PC version had some pretty serious driver compatibility problems at launch, primarily on ATI cards, since Id all used NVidia on their work machines.

I'd rather buy it from retail.edward850 wrote:You aren't looking very hard at all.

The retail version uses Steam as well, the only difference is that it installs off of three DVDs instead of a download server. Which might be preferable!printz wrote:I'd rather buy it from retail.edward850 wrote:You aren't looking very hard at all.

Tried TiberiumSoul's fpack5 with 16 bots in a 100 frag deathmatch with HMP and bring it on on MAP01.......NO LAG!
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Been playing Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam. Playing on Advance mode. It gets pretty darn hard when you're surrounded by zombies and those good for nothing bots tend to get you killed.

Finished Mass Effect 1. Stunning plot, stunning gameplay, stunning graphics, and fucking addicting. I finished it in merely 2 days. Now I can't wait to play the other games too.

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
When I have finished playing Mass Effect 1, my reaction was "Why I haven't played that game 5 years ago?". I believe I liked ME2 even more, especially with more characters (and character development). I haven't played ME3 yet. :\
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Mass Effect 1 made a fan out of me because of the vast potential of the game's universe. It threw so many interesting concepts in my face and I couldn't wait to see what they did with it all in subsequent installments. I couldn't help but be disappointed when I got to play those subsequent installments.
