ww-buttonmash (Carpal Tunnel: The Game)

Projects that have specifically been abandoned or considered "dead" get moved here, so people will quit bumping them. If your project has wound up here and it should not be, contact a moderator to have it moved back to the land of the living.

ww-buttonmash (Carpal Tunnel: The Game)

Post by wildweasel »

Get it here.

Here's the concept: You get one gun, ever. Mash Fire really fast to make it shoot more powerful Pulse shots that fire straight forward. Mash Altfire really fast to make it shoot more powerful Wave shots that fire in a spread but are much weaker. If you don't mash either fire button for a while, the power gradually decreases until it's back to level one. So the key to success is to mash the fire buttons until you can't mash them anymore.

This mod comes with NO WARRANTY OR SUPPORT. I will not be making bugfixes, nor will I be applying any feedback directly to this mod. I am only releasing it for posterity. I am not to be held responsible for broken mouse buttons, keyboard keys, or whatever other input devices you could possibly want to mash buttons on.

Credit for the sprites goes to Scuba Steve. The status bar came from the Taito game Metal Black with heavy modifications. I stole the sound effects from a bunch of games, including Mechwarrior 4 and a bunch of others that I forget and don't really care to dig up, but trust me, I'm pretty sure if you're reading this, you didn't make them, either.

[[credit also goes to Zero X Diamond for the alternate title]]

I will endorse this as being fairly entertaining for such a simple concept. While it is a bit troubling using the mouse, if you can get your hands on a joystick/gamepad with a turbo button, that all melts away and it actually becomes pretty great as a momentary distraction. Odd choice for the weapon graphic, but hey, it was mostly just a personal experiment so I can't fault you for that. Overall, definitely fun for a distraction and a momentary change of pace from the norm.

If anyone does Reciever I hope they do it using the drag and drop GUI on screen and not qwop style. ohgodohgod

new feature: it is now possible to fumble the gun if a key is pressed too quickly

(that's sarcasm by the way, not actually putting that in the mod)

Not to get OT, but a simplified version of Reciever's qwop could be cool for a stealth mod; pull a clip out, and then drop it quietly or throw it to make noise and distract guards.
