The problem is that no [wiki]soundfont[/wiki] is currently set up for playing MIDIs. The solution is to see the audio settings in Editor -> Preferences.

Xaser recommanded me to install WeedsGM3, and i think you should do the same thing.Gothic wrote:every time I try to open a MUS or MIDI file with SLADE3, this happensSpoiler:How I can fix this?

YESSSSSSSSS. Aside from tiny quirks, it's my favorite. Although I'm still partial to Yamaha SYXG for general MIDI-ing, but I've never found a soundfont anywhere close to it.terranova wrote:WeedsGM3
Oh man, hornet's nest of ambiguity! The closest to how a MIDI is "meant to sound" would be the hardware it was composed on. Personally I test something that will be a MIDI on all 3 of my different devices to mkke sure it'll sound passable on all. (As much as I hate to listen to the MS Synth, it's the most universal.Gothic wrote:play MIDIS as they should really sound

Speaking of, why can't you still play MIDIs in SLADE without one? Used to be able to use your system's sounds for 'em.

Because that was a feature of Audiere, which is no longer used, and not of FluidSynth, which is. Look back a page or two for the exact reasons.XutaWoo wrote:Speaking of, why can't you still play MIDIs in SLADE without one? Used to be able to use your system's sounds for 'em.

Is the Roland better than WeedsGM3? When I play DOS games, the Roland sounds better than Soundblaster. WeedsGM3 is more megabytes though.

Re: problem with midis and SLADE3
It depends on wat you mean by "better". If what you want is more authentic sound, Weeds. If you want something small and "classic" sounding, use Roland.

I want optimal performance so I go for Weeds.

Re: problem with midis and SLADE3
There's no such thing as 'optimal performance' with soundfonts. Maybe outside of loading the soundfont for the first time. Which shouldn't be a problem for today's standard 7200 RPM HDD's.RV-007 wrote:I want optimal performance so I go for Weeds.
Another good soundfont if one doesn't like Weeds is FluidR3_GM.

Re: problem with midis and SLADE3
How do I install the soundfonts to zdoom? We should have some soundfont themes, lol.

If that doesn't strike your fancy, there's this. But I wouldn't recommend it, it's buggy.
