Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
I know the feeling, everyone who plays my game either says "CHEX SUX" or "it's great!", or occasionally something vague in between. As a result, development on this project has been a lot of investigation on my own on how to improve it, which has actually been a rather good experience. The people who use / look at what you make are good at finding obvious mistakes, but only you really know what you want this thing you're making to be. If I would have just looked for somebody that I could feed my hopes for this project, and get a step by step guide to how to make it in return, I definitely wouldn't have learned as much as I did working on my own.Project Dark Fox wrote:Oh, I begged for her services!Xaser wrote:Artists are brutal. They see flaws in artwork that "normal people" would never ever come close to noticing.I was getting so little useful feedback that I was very near /paying/ for some!
EDIT - a rather rambling reply; in short, "don't be afraid to do your own research and experimentation into how to make what you want to make, sometimes it's the only way".

I'm not sure what to come out of this, then. It seems like the general idea is "do what you want but be sure to listen to the advice of others as you do it. " Honestly I'm not entirely sure what prompted my original post. Maybe it's just a complete lack of understanding of the mentality. Meh.

You're close, it's "Remember what you want to create, know the result you want, be sure you really want that result, and accept advice that will help you get that result".
That philosophy puts all of the responsibility on the quality of the result completely on the creator, I personally wouldn't manage a project any other way.

been playing the ME3 co-op and i must say its actually pretty damn awesome. favorite class to use so far is infiltrator cryo + sniper rifle = boom head-shot.
that and the tactical cloak is really useful when reviving other players and doing the objectives.

Because of how obscure the networking forum is, I'm posting this notice here in case anyone wants to help, in case they didn't see the thread.

Getting four teeth pulled out tomorrow, and I can't eat 8 hours prior to the appointment. Wonderful.
At least this time they aren't wisdom teeth.

Reconstructed a ReiserFS filesystem without any data loss, for the sixth or so time. I'm now wondering... Are journaling filesystems incorruptible?

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!
Currently hiding in my bedroom. That dreaded relative is visiting. You know, the kind of person who has an awful sense of humour, an annoying voice, drinks and smokes 24/7. That person that you avoid as much as possible when you can, just being near them you can feel your will to live being sapped away. I'm sure everyone's family has one.

one solution is to annoy the fuck out of them. it may get them to leave you alone, at the very least it gives em' a taste of their own medicine.

My family, at least within Denmark, are all in the house at this very moment though.
Yeah, I don't have an exceptionally big family, quite small actually.
