I was half-joking. But it still makes me feel kinda small when I see people who can create fantastic art, play musical instruments or sing incredibly well (and almost effortlessly), when I'm not skilled in any of those fields. I feel that I should be, particularly when it comes to singing. My singing voice currently sounds somewhat akin to a cat being strangled with piano wire so I think regularly that I really ought to improve on that.

Don't get me wrong - I just get the feeling that I should be learning new skills as opposed to just constantly expanding on the ones I already have.

Anyway, I seem to have veered us off course a bit here.

Yes, because you can go from no conception of music at all to being capable at an instrument.

Singing is part genetics. Listen to "Zombies" by the Cranberries, and see if you can do that yodel sound the singer does. That sound is literally requires the right genes to be able to do it. Similarly, some voices just aren't meant for that music stuff. Tone, timbre, etc. are rather innate. It's less learning a new skill, and more re-learning how to walk.

On the subject of singing... I agree with Ventris. Whatever voice you're born with, you're stuck with it for the rest of your life... I really hate hate hate hate all of those perfect pitch singers who're just born with a golden voice. Makes me so jealous!

I've been told I'm a good singer and I've been told that I'm a bad singer. I think if I really wanted to get good I could probably take vocal lessons from the lead singer from the band Helix, who happens to live in my town.

More of HeretiX, a port of MagSigmaX's Project MSX to Heretic. Shown is the new key display, the new powerup duration indicator, and the new weapon tag. The mod also has nearly twenty "new" monsters, derived from the standard bestiary and modified using no new gfx, just manipulation through ZDoom's special lumps. I'll probably release the monsters part as a standalone wad, since AFAIK, there are no monster randomizers for Heretic.
