Zdoom doesn't like my texture

Post by MrChef2233 »

Hi. I have encountered something that doesn't work properly. I have a texture that shows up completely fine in DB2 :

However when played in zdoom ([2.5.0] latest development version) it doesn't show up with the texture and all I get is a HOM :

Can somebody please tell me what is going on. It is really bugging me and I don't know how to fix it.

You should check out the TEXTURE1, and TEXTURE2 files Inside your WAD and see where your custom texture is. Maybe Something might reveal there.

I don't know why it wasn't working but I deleted the texture and redid it and voila:

Sometimes, random geometry goofs will make the engine look at your map funny. Not sure if it's a DB2 problem, but at least deleting and redrawing the areas in question can fix it. I've had to do that on a couple occasions, one of which messed up quite badly.

Well it happened again but on a different texture, which was on the top of the list in my TEXTURE1. Everytime I fixed it a new one would occur

Ah, in that case you need a dummy texture up there, for historical reasons.

Yup. Make one and leave it there. (Hacx calls it "AARDVARK", amusingly.) "AAAAAAAA" would work just as well. :P

You, could call it ZEBULON and it'd work too. Id's tool chain automatically sorted the textures by names, so they started the dummies with a double A to keep them in first place; but if you're not sorting texture names in that way, anything works.
