[Palette] "Contrast" palette for a "darker" Doom

Post by Hellstorm Archon »

As I was on the Doomworld forums, I found a palette that seems to add more contrast, and overall give Doom a darker and grittier feel. However, it does make the game darker and more like Doom 3; although this would be perfect for a survival horror mod, or if you wanted to make a mod in which the overall atmosphere was very gloomy. I liked this very much and decided to share this. This isn't mine (credit goes to Sigvatr), but since this is a palette, feel free to download here:

"Contrast" palette

Feel free to post any thoughts and of course, use this in your own mod if you wish.

Note: I decided to post this here because I felt this would be more widely used.

Just a direct link? You've stripped the mod completely away from its context. You should really link the other post or at least give credit to Sigvatr for creating it.

Big question: Does Sigvatr allow us to embed his palette and colormap into our wads? I'm going to scan that thread for a possible answer.

I'm pretty sure this is the official release: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=16492

I like some things about this palette (the Hexenish blues in particular) but other stuff not so much (like how messed up the skin-toned brown range looks.)

I've changed my mind, it's too colourless. I'm looking for strong blues (UAC carpet) and strong reds (blood, BLOOD!) rather than black-metal art style. Maybe PalPlus will get its use later when I try a black-metal themed wad, why not.
