Would ZDoom benefit more from more memory?

Post by Per-Scan »

I've got an HP NC6400 with nasty Intel 945 family onboard GPU, 1gig RAM and a T5600 Core2Duo CPU @ 1.83GHz. Would ZDoom run better with either more memory (up to the 3.25 Gig limit) or slightly faster CPU (T7200 2GHz with bigger cache). Or (shock!) would ZDoom benefit much from upgrading both??

I'd say CPU unless you play mods that are really heavy on custom resources, such as Stronghold or the infamous Aeons of Death.

I've got 4 gigs of RAM. I haven't payed particular attention to it, but when playing ZDoom or GZDoom, the CPU consumption can increase by 99% over what it was before launching the game, but RAM consumption I don't remember raising by more than 10% over the previous value.

Thanks for the response. That's kind of what I thought but I wasn't sure. :)
