You misunderstood. You can't directly import a BMP. (Z)Doom can't read it. You have to import it as graphics and convert it in the process to a Doom patch/sprite format.

Whats the filename then? .pcx , .jpeg (only an example) etc.

Or, if it doesn't have a filename, where can I get a converter?

XWE, DeepSea, WinTex, DeuTex will do the job. There is no filename extension because all those tools write the lumps directly into a WAD.

How are you managing your WADs anyway?

Oh....

Well, to get the sprite images, I've been using XWE

To insert them, I've been using something simply named "Lump Tool"

To quote the "About" in the help menu:
Lump Tool by Martin Allen 2002 version: 1.0.7

Edits and creates WAD files for the game Doom. It's 9 years too late, but better late than never! martin@martin2k.co.uk Last Updated: 26/03/2002
Guess I'll be importing my imp sprites thorugh XWE now :P

My monster is now able to be see, but he has this box of white around him and when he dies, it turns green

How do I fix this?

... Are the BMPs you imported 24-bit, or are they 256 color? 256 color is PHYSICALLY REQUIRED. :P

actually that's the wad editor's fault, it isn't converting the cyan around the imp to transparent, but green(the nearest color to cyan) instead.

Heh, "luckily" for me, XWE never let me import graphics, so I never had this problem. Although it meant I had to use WinTex.... *shudders into a state of spasm*

I don't get what you people are doing wrong, I import sprites using XWE on a daily basis and it works perfectly for me... all the time.
