Well, the Trollface meme is actually funny in a strange way (if not else,then the face itself), but Hello Kitty is a lot better idea, so we made our secret level Hello Kitty themed.

I can also post the Hello Kitty poster, if it's not a problem that I already used it in Tristania3D...

It has nothing to do with Castlevania :) (Tristania3D itself is a Wolf3D based dark-gothic themed game)

Hmm...

The dopefish one would only go in a secret area, but not a bad idea. I've seen that several times, and I'd be glad to put that id gaming legend in my wad.

The Tristania 3d billboard is fine, I'll put it in :)

The NEDM... maybe. I know what it means, I'll have to think about it.

The troll face one doesn't make much sense, I'd use it in a super secret area, but I'm not sure if I even want to do that, since this mod isn't really supposed to be a 1337 YOU FAIL IT1!! kind of wad.

I'm mostly looking for advertisements, posters with memes or jokes written on them isn't really what I'm looking for. Ads with memes or jokes involved are fine, however, if it's done in good taste. :)

The Trollface level was super secret level-intended even in Tristania3D :) The game had 2 different floating ghost enemies, and I only wanted to use one, so I was left with an unused enemy type - this is where Trollface/Coolface came into the picture. And later, mah ver' good friend insisted that we should put in Hello Kitty instead of Trollface. And so it happened.

The Dopefish idea was meant to be an Easter-Egg, as it is not a meme or anything :) Besides, every good game has at least 1 Easter-Egg hidden inside (Tristania3D has the Hello Kitty for instance).

I can create some advertisements as well, but beware - they shall be 24Bit PNGs, not simpler ones like these (mostly I selected these billboards, because their quality would not be distorted when imported inside Doom). Non-commercial advertisements and billboards of course. So if the 24bit is not a problem, I'll create some advertisements for you, apart from the Tristania3D one :)

The NEDM fits perfectly for a billboard in Doom - basically it's a phrase for cruelty against animals is bad, that's why I would use it.

Main problem is, my advertisements are all in Hungarian :D it'll take time to re-create'em in English, but of course it's far from impossible. What should be the maximum size, so you don't need to resize anythin'?

I know what NEDM is, I'm just not sure if it fits in Chex Quest, and this map.

I also know what the dopefish is, I've played ROTT (with the dopefish command line argument) and Keen 4, where it actually was an enemy

I'd prefer these ads to be in the doom pallete, and maybe 2 to 3x original size at most.

I might make an exception if it's especially good and custom made, but don't grab a 1024x768 photograph from google images and photoshop a Chex logo onto it. I don't want to use that kind of space in the .pk3 for something that's not that important.

Hm. Isn't there a tool, which converts images into Doom palette? Wolf3D has such program (WDC), which converts the image into the loaded palette. The Tristania3D billboard is actually a 8bit BMP in the Tristania3D palette.

I don't know XWE (not yet) that deeply, but I'm sure it is capable to convert loaded images into the appropiate palette.

My billboards would not be that specially Chex Quest related - they're "joker" billboards, which could fit in any game.

GIMP can convert images to a palette. So can SLADE 3.

The advertisements don't have to be strictly in the doom palette (this isn't vanilla doom), I just don't want them to look terrible in the software renderer.

Example of what's acceptable:

on my yellow tiles, there just aren't enough colors, so I used an in-between yellow for part of it. In the software renderer, it will default to a yellow color it does have. It will have less contrast, but it will still look ok.


(maybe I should make pink tiles instead... maybe I will anyway, chex quest could use some pink tiles)

Example of what can go wrong:

my CL zorcher looks awful in the software renderer, because I stupidly made part of it cyan. It has this acid green and purple fuzz around it in places... I'd like to remake that one.

Test your stuff in zdoom, and make sure the image doesn't look horribly bad in the doom palette.
