GOD FUCKING DAMNIT, SLADE
So it's not really as god-like as I thought it is. Still a good editor though, and lightyears ahead of the other ones.
Mainly, my problem is that I'm trying to save a wad, and it won't let me, and gives the error message "Error: Invalid map". There are absolutely NO maps in the wad I am editing. So what the fuck is going on here?

Re: GOD kek'n DAMNIT, SLADE
why didn't you post this into the slade thread? :O
[edit]do you have the right priviledges to write the files? I mean, aren't you using the program to edit wads in Programs folder...?
[edit2]ugh... it's better if I stop making assumptions :\

Re: GOD FUCKING DAMNIT, SLADE
This error message cannot happen when saving. If it does, I don't understand how. It only appears when unsuccessfully attempting to view something identified as a map header.
Re: GOD FUCKING DAMNIT, SLADE
So, I tried restarting slade, and tried to save my edits again. Now this time, all I'm getting is "Error:". Nothing else. Still won't let me save. And no, I'm not editing an IWAD. (why the hell would I do that?)

But is your WAD located in a "write-restricted" folder like Program Files?Sodaholic wrote:And no, I'm not editing an IWAD. (why the hell would I do that?)
Re: GOD FUCKING DAMNIT, SLADE
Nope. This is the first time this error has been happening to me. It's not read only, either.
Re: GOD FUCKING DAMNIT, SLADE
do you use multiple editors? Usually if i hav a problem with one, I'll switch to another until its "safe" to go back to the other one....I guess sometimes it works....

Re: GOD FUCKING DAMNIT, SLADE
As in Doom Builder is running in the background with the same WAD loaded (and having saved once on it own)?
Re: GOD FUCKING DAMNIT, SLADE
DOH! I just realized that it wouldn't let me because I had ZDoom itself open with the files I was trying to save!

Re: GOD kek'n DAMNIT, SLADE
Heh. I should really look into why it was displaying the wrong error though. Invalid map?

Re: GOD kek'n DAMNIT, SLADE
You remind me of an early HARSH lesson with XWE, one that usually caused the program to fully hijack my wad, luckily.... I think that's why its author made it save like +million backups of your wad
