[WORMS DOOM]

Post by TheMisterCat »

Hi. I've been working on this for quite some time now. I don't know how else to describe the game. It's pretty much a fusion of Worms and Doom. Most of the elements of Worms gameplay are present, along with some Doom weaponry.

The game is purely multiplayer and gives players the opportunity to change many of the in-game mechanics (such as weapon loadouts, crate drop chances, starting health/armor, gravity, fall damage...) in the game lobby.
Spoiler: Lobby menus
I've been working on player models, animations and weaponskins, here are the results.
Spoiler: Player/Weapon Models
Spoiler: HUD
Spoiler: Stuff
Spoiler: More Stuff
Spoiler: Random landscape generator
I've only made 5 maps so far, could really use some extra mappers with the patience to map in only two dimensions.

Wow, this looks rather interesting! Those Doomguy models are really cute :P

The only downside I see is that it's impossible (at least to my knowledge) to imitate the dynamic landscape that made Worms/Worms2 such a great game. What I mean is, that you could literally blow up a whole mountain or dig tunnels into the ground for example. I doubt it is possible to fake, is it?

Btw, that ball-kickin' attack is epic :)

There is a slim possibility that I may be able to implement destructible landscape. I'm working on it, it's just not very.. optimized for multiplayer right now. In the mean time, I'm adding 'map objects', which are solid destructible decorations such as pillars. Also, girders are destructible.

I've always hoped to see a game based on the original 2D worms games in Doom. This looks very promising! Are you going to have choices of characters as well (humans vs demons, demons vs demons, etc?)

Ha, ha! That looks awesome in a funny way. Great idea to show some of the animations, as they not only give a sense for what the game is about, but they are amusing as heck.

Good luck with everything. I'd volunteer to help with mapping, but I have no experience whatsoever in building in strictly 2 dimensions.
