Re: ÆoD (new patch v5.28: 10/10/2010)
Thanks for the new patch, I'll check it out by replaying Ultimate Doom episodes with it.
Re: ÆoD (new patch v5.25; 09/06/2010)
No, this is the part of the userbase that complains a wad is too hard because they ran through it with DQD and KFA on.Vict wrote:Is this the part of the userbase that complains a wad is too easy because they ran through it with DQD and KFA on?..
DBT is making it harder to play with cheats. You're talking about the case where it would be too easy, which is the exact opposite of what DBT is doing.

Re: ÆoD (new patch v5.28: 10/10/2010)
DBT, am I missing something, or is the ammo factor for skill 3 in this mod, the one above Apolcaypse, a little lower than it was before the 5.25 patch?
Because I'm getting 1 shotgun shell from monsters that drop shotgun shells, instead of well, 2 or 3.
And boxes of shotgun shells lying around don't give anywhere close to 20, or even 15.
Did I break something?
As for cheating, I don't use give everything in any mod.
If I want to test the weapons I'll use SetSlot and summon the weapon that way.
Yes, I've been extremely busy in Real life, rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.
Damnit, I totally messed up, I meant above, not below.

David, no you're not missing something, the skills were changed around. They've been rebalanced now. I think you're also talking Nightmare mode which is now Inhuman. That's skill 5 (I think).
Also, you should get the newest patch which was just released yesterday.
And what the hell? Rumors of your death? Never saw 'em, I always thought you were... well... alive, healthy, and lovable as usual.

Re: ÆoD (new patch v5.28: 10/10/2010)
I'm trying to play at Closer to Death, the third difficulty, and I get less ammo now then I did on Apocalypse in 5.00. I meant to say above in my other post, not below. Silly me.
Where's the Ammo factor flag? Maybe my copy is goofed up.
The newer 5.28 patch has this for the third diffculty.
skill AEoD_Medium
{
SpawnFilter = 3
PicName = "M_HURT"
Key = "h"
Name = "AEoD_Medium"
DefaultSkill
AmmoFactor = 0.8
aggressiveness = 0.6
DamageFactor = 1.2
autousehealth
I hope this gives me the right amount, because I swear I was getting 1/4 ammo on Closer to Death
Okay, something really weird is going on. I updated to 5.28, I have Zdoom 2.5.0, and I don't have any AEOD specific options in the customize controls menu. They're all gone. It ends with Strife commands listed.
It used to be there. Now I have no way to set any option in AEOD. I don't understand it.
And Numpad 9 which used to turn off slot limits is now toggling Chasecam! Even deleting the zdoom.cfg has no effect at all.
I can't turn off slot limits now. Weird. Also, since ammofactor is at .8, that means that a box of shotgun shells should spawn 16, right?
Also, shouldn't the difficulty in game be called whatever it is in mapinfo?
Also, if I ever figured out how to make a video of Doom, could I make a video showing off the right ways and the wrong ways to deal with the Phoenix?
Kind of like, "How not to be seen."
I could try for a parody of a British voice saying. "And now, see the Phoenix in it's natural habitat, etc."

Re: ÆoD (new patch v5.28: 10/10/2010)
I think I need to say this for everyone now...
YOU NEED TO USE THE LATEST VERSION OF (G)ZDOOM. We are using the new MENUDEF lump, because I've modified it to get rid of the original "drop weapon" command, so now it's actually the AEoD drop weapon version.
Grab your zdoom and/or gzdoom updates please! Otherwise you will be missing menus!
Not mad, I just told DBT we'd need to tell everyone again.

Re: ÆoD (new patch v5.28: 10/10/2010)
I'm going to finish part two of the "City Terminal" video before I get the new patch.
I'll probably run that with Enjay Doom as well.

Re: ÆoD (new patch v5.28: 10/10/2010)
Fair enough.
As for my other questions, any idea?
I hope this fixes my lack of ammo too.
Unless medium skill is not closer to death.
THe whole ammo factor/damage factor/mapinfo thingy confuses me to be honest.
I remember the days when it was simple.
Yeah! Updating everything fixed the ammofactor oddness too.

Ammofactor 0.8 means you receive 4/5ths of normal pickups. Though indeed, four shells should give precisely that... four shells. I'll have to convince DBT though.

Re: ÆoD (new patch v5.28: 10/10/2010)
Ah, okay. It seems to be working now.
Fought through Arachnophobia to run into the Maulotaur from Heretic.
Yeah, I fought a bunch of air elementals and all I got was a Maulotaur to fight?
To be honest, if Air elementals rickrolled you, that would make them less annoying.
The Prototype is fun. I don't know whether to use the shell or the Howitzer.
And the Lightning gun is totally awesome and powerful.
Oh, that reminds me, I played through Happy Time Circus with your additions, and uh, the Fusion Reactor cannon is totally awesome!
How hard is it to spawn in normal AEOD? Because who wouldn't want their own nuclear missile launcher?
Which is what the alt-fire is on that thing, or at least it seems like it.
Any surprises I should be on the lookout for? Got the Demon gun that fires mace balls, that guy too a lot to kill too. And he was a Baron Class.
Got the Necromantic bonestaff, which is nice, if I wanted an army. Alt-fire helps get a army though.
Oh, ran into a new enemy for me at least, he used a flamethrower and looked a little like the color of fire version of the Doom Marine. Not the Doom Marine that uses a lot of weapons, he just used a flamethrower. He's a lot like those guys that shoot fire at you and explode when they die.

Dark flame staff/AWP/flare guns are practically the main weapons that you'll be using throughout mostly... The mobs drop nothing but weapons anyway (Cutman's ghouls do too, though you wont find them anywhere except on Pennywise. No creepers!). Whenever you see balloons, shoot em down if they're red, black, blue or green. They can give a few surprises.DavidB1000 wrote:Oh, that reminds me, I played through Happy Time Circus with your additions, and uh, the Fusion Reactor cannon is totally awesome!
Also, go find the petting zoo when possible. That place holds the deepest, darkest secrets... Just remember to ensure everything gibs first else you might find a rabbit biting you or two after playing dead.
Don't shoot the yellow ones though in the next version I release. Their full of acid cat piss.

Re: ÆoD (new patch v5.28: 10/10/2010)
It seems you that removed the command key option to disable the weapon slot limits with this latest version. I guess AEoD getting worse with each patch release.

I guess you should be checking the Customize Controls screen more carefully. I guess people's prejudices are increasing with each patch release.Jinal wrote:It seems you that removed the command key option to disable the weapon slot limits with this latest version. Re: ÆoD (new patch v5.28: 10/10/2010)
Umm...where? I don't see anything on the Customize Controls screen that says "disable weapon slot limits" (infact the entire AEoD control section is gone) unless they changed the wording.DBThanatos wrote:I guess you should be checking the Customize Controls screen more carefully.Jinal wrote:It seems you that removed the command key option to disable the weapon slot limits with this latest version. Edit: I double checked and I still see nothing there.
