That looks pretty good! The muzzle flash needs some improvement (it's a bit too small and sticks out), but otherwise it's great!

Heh "muzzle flash". Always makes me laugh seeing that word applied to amagical weapon which doesn't even have a "muzzle". :P

Also, I wouldn't say the flash is 100% original, either. (See: Elvenwand.) :? IMO it could really use something actually origianal, it would fit better.

Also, you should make the gem grow brighter when firing, that would be pretty neat. (If you're using a palette range, just increase all the indices by the same amount.)

The shading on the gem looks a little flag, and the point of the flash doesn't line up with the point on the gem. Otherwise, it looks pretty cool.

There are some perspective aspects that you can refine, like where the wood meets the head - it doesn't look circular. The Shading, like Ghastly mentioned, seems a bit flat. While there are definitely things you can improve on, it certainly looks good for one of the earlier weapons you try to make from scratch. Certainly loads better than the crap that I tried to make when I first started spriting. Kudos to you for taking the first steps of becoming a weapon spriter. :D

This, definitely. A muted/dirty blue or gray would be good.
