Nitemare 3D Remake

Post by ciber_mato2 »

Hi! I'm Matías from Argentina (so you'll forgive my English hahaha). First of all, I don't know if this is the correct subforum to post this thread, but I think it has more relationship as a Doom Total Convertion than Nitemare 3D itself. Ok, I'm travelling trough a lot of forum (in Spanish and English) searching for experimented people in Doom modification and level creation.

What I want to do is a remake of the great 1994 game "Nitemare 3D" to make it more enjoyable and funny, deleting all those monotonus textures, the 90° angle walls, and give more "life" to the maps using Doom I & II graphics engine.

I want to remake the game with more difficulty, more mistery and make it more sorpresive (I mean, no more static enemies beyond the walls, now when the player takes for example a key a wall or a rack opens up and all the monsters come to attack us!). And too grow the number of enemies, guns, remake the music and all those things!

Well, that's all, I don't understand anything about map making, so I'm searching people interesed in colaborate to make live this game. I can help makin blueprints, new explosive music, and may some stripes.

Once ready, the game can be announced to the gamers!

Thank you all very much! I hope yoy answer!

I'm sorry but I doubt the forumers would be willing to join up your project, just like that. They tend to be bogged down with their own work, and joining with other people who do have the skills (not just naked ambitions) also takes a lot of time and coordination.

The projects subforum is intended for Projects that are either complete or in progress and have something to show for.
The general subforum seems like a good place though.

Hmm, well, I think the problem you'll run into is that there are probably quite a few people who have not played Nitemare 3D on this forum. Obviously, I can't speak for all of us, but there sure was a lot of Doom Clones from '94-'97...

And there's also what Ryan said, which is probably an even bigger obstacle. So many projects turn out to be fruitless, sadly sometimes including the ones that the forumers are "bogged down with."

Hehe, I remember playing the first episode way back. Can't say it was the greatest game ever, but the soundtrack was amazing. I need to get around to remaking those tunes or something some day.

I've played it. It was pretty fun, though the gameplay suffers from getting way to hard way too quick, annoying level design and very unpredictable enemies which kill you way to quick. Compare the difficuilty of level 1 and level 2 and you'll see what I mean. It's still pretty fun though, despie it's flaws, and yes, it's soundtrack IS awesome.

BTW Xaser, I happen to have remixes of the game's soundtrack which came from a abandoned Nitemare 3D mod for Doomsday which contains 14 remixed songs from the game. I can send them to you if you'd like. :)

Remixed soundtrack stuff? Yell hes, I'm interested. :D

If they're quality stuff, you might consider posting them up for others to listen, too. Don't want to hog them all, especially seeing how most of anything I try and make never gets released... :P

Right then. Can I use the DRD filesharing service to upload it? If yes, how do I do that? Do I have to get a account at the GZDoom forums to do so?

No, you just register on http://files.drdteam.org/ -- it's independent of a forum account. It does work well once you get signed up, though.

Alright, but can I upload those tracks there? Isn't DRD only for DooM related stuff?

It's a resource that has potential use in a Doom mod, so absolutely. ;)

I hated Nitemare 3D. Gameplay was annoying and ridiculously unbalanced. I would have preferred it if the author actually made the game a real-time first person adventure continuation of the Hugo series.
