Well if you're upgrading from a Vox and you got it cheap, then it's pretty okay for home purposes. But yeah, the VS's pres aren't really gain-y enough. Perhaps you can try add a distortion pedal up front for all of your gain needs. What kind of music are you playing? And more importantly... what guitars are you using?

Recently, all of the speakers in my 4x12 blew up... they were Celestion speakers (came standard upon purchase). I was looking around for replacement speakers, went into this really funky looking shop and they claim they have "custom speakers that sound better than Celestion and much cheaper". At first I dismissed these, but for the price they offered, I thought, why not. So I had them install those imitation speakers (I think they were chinese made). MAN was I blown away. It was a little too boomy at first, but I had my friend tweak the cabinet a bit and it sounds amazing. The funny thing is that when I came back to the shop a few months later, they say they don't have such speakers anymore, they were "discontinued". I have a feeling they were stolen speakers... but you know what? I don't care. They're amazing and they're cheap.

Well im using a Ibanez S670 and i play a little mixed, id say a mixed bag of punk/metal. but yes im used to using really high gain so. I do have some gain pedals, gonna have to try that idea

Heh, yeah you were lucky there, id say i was kinda lucky with this VS100 and the speaker box aswell, i thought "hmm today i could try to look if i find some good amp" and i found this "Selling marshall VS100+Speakerbox" and when i saw the price i was like *HELL YEEEEAA*. Then i thought, why hasn't anyone else bought this yet? then i noticed: OH the guy selling it put it up just half an hour ago.

Actually nobody would figure what I find funny about that. There's this anonymous online FAQ for hungary, there are quite a lot of stupid questions, and even more stupid answers. Even those who ask seriously, sometimes get trolled by random guys answering "yes, you're pregnant" in most cases. Heh.
