I will email you for this.
My effect doesn't work well.

I'm not a C++ pro :)

That's all very cool but wouldn't you have to distribute your wad with the modified source code to get other people to enjoy your changes?

As for the DM thing... yeah, it would destroy it to a certain extent, but there is one minor thing... ROTGS2 isn't for deathmatch :-D... I might not even add DM starts... after all the whole ROTGS thing is a single player mod with a story...

I think footsteps should be implemented, but only as it is at the moment (ie: not actually built into the Zdoom wad, just a feature that someone can make use of in their levels). I also think the lava should behave more like Hexen and Heretics. At present it just makes the burning sound when you land in it, it's not continuousely burning :-).

He HAS to release the source code of ZD3K along with the wad...

Why? ZDoom isn't GPL or something similar.

I'm not sure if I could help, I'm really busy right now working on some other stuff (such as some very powerful resume creation software ;) ). But I may be able to help within the forums every once and a while. But just copying code straight from the posts won't really help you very much, as you learn more by figuring out solutions by yourself ;) .

What about if there was a server-side cvar(or dmflag) that would change whether the footsteps sounds are global(ie everyone hears footsteps, obviously getting quieter as you're farther away) or local(only you hear your own footsteps, and no one else's). This could include monsters, too. Would save footstep-less DM, and allow for DM'ing with footsteps, and allow single player mods to do what they want. I believe theres already an option for items/weapons like this.
