I thought about adding them, but it was too much trouble. The hands only had the forward angle when jumping. Coding the choking effect would have been a real chore. Then there's the "shaking off" part, which I doubt is even possible.

I think you could anyway, since there's always more to add to the army...
Underlined to make it clear. Why not? I said it already, they're uninteresting and we already have many uninteresting monsters. The time when I added stuff for the sake of adding mindlessly is gone. Since 4.x due to technical issues, I had to start carefully selecting what I was going to add. And while the issue was resolved, for 5.x I did the same, and I plan to do the same if a new version ever comes.

DBThanatos wrote:They were added this way to have generic gibs through all the mod (except the quake monsters). Most of the monster's special deaths are generic, so it's expected to stay that way.
Also, is easy to have them stay forever, but the more actors in game, the more chance to lag. They have to be removed for performance.
I think you could the keep generic gibs for the Duke Enemies but my main point though is that the Blood/Shadow Warrior/ROTT enemies should have have their own gibs from their retrospective games.
Then you failed to see my point. Underlined to make it clear.

Like I said:

About all the "is not like the original" stuff, there was a discussion in the old thread about this kind of issues, and the bottom line was that while perhaps, in it's very beggining, AEoD was meant to replicate the monsters of the games they come from, the latest AEoD's purpose is not that. True for 5.x, the mod doesnt aim to have you playing Duke Nukem (or whatever game's content the mod have) inside doom; is to use the resources of other games in whatever way that is convinient for the mod. Take a look into almost any other monster and you'll see that stuff changed, or is not 100% accurate copy of what it was in the original game. That's intentional.

So, even though we got this kind of comments, that didnt change my mind, because that's how it's supossed to be in aeod.

Question and comment:

1. How'd you guys manage to rip Turok's Fusion Cannon and Turok 2's Firestorm Cannon (along with the other Turok weapons in AEoD)?

2. Not sure if I like the Turok 2 Shredder's muzzle on the SW grenade launcher...

1. *points at Reilsss*

2. Oh well. Too late to change it now.

@Jinal: No. I personally prefer the mobs have one shared source of gibbing. Why would we want to go waste more megabytes of space just to get more gibs in and make them look like the original version?

While we were developing this mod, we had all agreed to "do something different". Thus, the character differences between the original games and the mod (a rather huge tribute to all the games) was born... a long time ago.

Now, I know I'm guilty of making Oscuro nearly the same as his part in ROTT, but that's a different story. Before I had joined the AEoD team, I had already worked on that boss and gave him in mostly as-is with many tweaks to him later. However, you'll notice that each and every mob behaves differently.

That was done on purpose. We wanted to go for something new, unique, and original while still being able to reminisce about the good ol' times, while still giving new and invigorating challenges.

So, no, we're not going to give each "class" their own gibbages for that reason, and because AEoD.pk3 is the fat bastard causing (G)Zdoom to squeel like a motor with worn-out oil in it, and that needs to lose some serious weight.

AEoD gets more and more advanced with every release. Maybe time has come to introduce waterlevel checks to make fire-, shock-based stuff act different in deep water?

The only stuff that has been given underwater checks is things that tend to stay instead of disappear, i.e. quietus trails, so they properly disappear.

Also, I doubt we're going to do anymore than that because AEoD is aimed for vanilla maps only.

@Michaelis: as cooke said, AEoD is intended for vanilla maps only. So, dont expect any support for non vanilla maps.

@jpalomo: thanks. gald you enjoy. I suggest to keep an eye over here ;)

@Godzilla: Sure thing. Feel free to use those contents. Please credit me as the sprite ripper, and the aeod team (or ichor and me if you want to be more specific) for the code.

Also, thanks for the offer. I will check your mod one of this days. Im for sure looking for an excuse to play through all Hexen :P

I'm about to finish my third megawad using this last incarnation of the aeod v5. Immediate Cacoward IMO. Everything works perfectly. The weapons are stronger than ever in this last variation. The BFG and the blue dEvAStAtOr, two scroll of the wheel before it, are a nice pair. And for the first time, I feel someone has understood the true nature of a chainsaw: immediate carnage! I make good use of this one, very dangerous. And graphically, Awesome.

I really hate Nihilant. I can still ear him talking. Cool that he's easily avoidable. Some bosses are freak.. hard.

I miss the invulnerable Phoenix from v2.45 :-)

He's still there. Now, he's been made incredibly rare and he only pops up in the pain elemental spawners.

First case ever reported of anything like this. Any scareware you got, was not from AEoD. There's no exe file, nor anything else that could run behind your back and install anything. So, that wasnt us.

When one virus infects other files, it can make it trace back to other downloads that are actually virus free, so be careful with what you download. We guarantee our product... in this case mod... to be 100% clean of malicious software.

Now, infection-wise, when it comes to addiction of Zdoom... Heh. I'm already hooked, been hooked for the longest time (two years now?)
