Vertical sync

Post by Doomexpert »

Hi,

i needed somebody who has knowledge about zdoom and gzdoom.
i have for a long time this problem with vsync. i use gzdoom from 1 feb 2008.
with total cmd to enter my parameters to play gzdoom. that is the easy way. for axample s.bat is (batch file) for singleplayer.

gzdoom -file %1.wad gzdrp.pk3 tp.pk3 -nomusic -warp %2 -skill 4 +set dmflags +set teamdamage 0.5

thats what is in the batch file.
so i have only to enter in the line s wadname levelnr for example (s satanx 1)
the pk3 files are just addons for gzdoom.

so, when i start gzdoom with vsync is on then he goes to 500/700 FPS then everytime i must go to options - display options - opengl options - Vertical Sync to sett my vsync off and on.
then is goes to 60 FPS and stays there. i have a ATI radeon 4870x2 thats one of the fastest cards in the world. so vsync is on but when i quit and start gzdoom again it goes again to 500/600 FPS and vsync stays on only the frame rate goes high when i start gzdoom again but vsync stays on.
In the ini file it says vsync is on. but only i want is that each time i play gzdoom that he stays standart 60 fps, vsync stays on and thats good but only the fps goes high when i start again.
i want this becease my videocard goes at his his top what no need for is for gzdoom.

You could try a newer version of GZdoom. A lot has changed since Feb 2008. There was certainly a problem where Gzdoom would forget its vsync status (but for me, it always set it on rather than off) and that has been addressed.

If, for some reason, you need to stick to the older version, try adding this to your command line:

+vid_vsync 1
