Hexen and Heretic High Resolution Texture Packs for GZDoom

I used the textures for jHeretic and jHexen, then I packed them in a way that GZDoom will load them.

Consider them as beta version. I included also the original txt files (inside the pk3), thus trying to give the credits to the original creators of textures. I think that I now removed all duplicate and not needed files.

If someone else wants to continue this and fix any errors or give me suggestions on how to organize or improve them, please feel free to post a comment.

As I said credits/thanks to the original creators of the textures.

Enjoy!

p.s.: Mediafire.com sometimes tends to corrupt files during upload. So make sure you verify the md5 checksums or if the pk3 files unpack ok.

[EDIT]
I will fix the packs, remove double/not needed files, and re-upload soon.

[EDIT2]
Done!

[EDIT3]
I forgot to say that these packs should work also in SkullTag, but in OpenGL renderer. Software renderer is not supported, because of the way I packed the files (Doomsday engine compatible method). Thus ZDoom is not supported either, as it has Software renderer only.

How do you make textures not run in software? That must take skill.

Read what I said: I packed the files in Doomsday engine compatible method, which only works with OpenGL renderer. Don't blame me, that's the way (G)ZDoom is build.

Example:

1. Doomsday engine compatible method. The files are in:

For Heretic:
Data\jHeretic\Flats
Data\jHeretic\Textures

For Hexen:
Data\jHexen\Flats
Data\jHexen\Textures

2. If you want them to also work in ZDoom or SkullTag software renderer put the files in:

For Heretic:
Hires\Flats
Hires\Textures

For Hexen:
Hires\Flats
Hires\Textures

Note: The ZDoom method will work of course for GZDoom and SkullTag OpenGL renderer.

[EDIT]
Each way of packing the texture packs has advantages and disadvantages.

Methinks the Hexen ones better fit the originals. (The Ethereal Portal is just awesome.)

And with these packs comes the first time I've ever had a GZDoom slowdown. Wow.

Well anyway, thanks for posting these. :)

Don't suppose we could get some mirrors could we? The mediafire links keep breaking for me before the DL finishes. :(

Preferably a mirror that allows download resuming so I can have a chance?

I went ahead and put them (EDIT: Only the Heretic pack) on DRDTeam temporarily.

31 MB: http://files.drdteam.org/index.php/file ... n-pack.pk3

Also here is the sendspace link for the pack I threw together a while ago that works with Zdoom's software renderer, but I think it has problems when a new texturex lump is in a pwad. It's the same size, so i guess it has the same set of textures. Should work for the iwad or just new level pwads.

For members that have download problems with mediafire.com links:

There is a free addon for Firefox that is named DownThemAll! and it works as a download manager. Install it and use it to download from mediafire.com links, sendspace.com links and few others (that don't have anti-leeching scripts).

Also to prevent lag and slow frame rate when using these packs, enable the precaching of textures in OpenGL options.

[edit]
I will add a sendspace.com mirror for hexen pack and then I will edit 1st post.

[edit2]
First post updated with mirrors.
Also why don't you try the open-source download tool: JDownloader

jesus the hexen one is bad....no offense its just the original textures with filters placed over! I love the heretic one though, I use that particular one with Doomsday as well

I don't think he'll read your thanks, he hasn't been around for one year already.

Hello, All!

Sorry for offtopic.

On this resource is very high quality textures for ECWolf (512x512 walls etc.): http://forum.drdteam.org/viewtopic.php? ... 34&p=57577

Is anyone knows way to convert this HQTextures pack for use with GZDoom+Wolfenstein 3D TC? Or way to lounch ECWolf with OpenGL?

Thanx! Sorry for my english...
