Ghostbusters Doom (Need some mappers)
I don't know how to start this up so,we'll use this
A post at Doomworld asking if scuba steve would finish his ghostbusters doom lead to a couple of us taking up the project to finish it,
Were just starting off this thing so we dont have much,we're mostly looking for mappers and decorate programmers,im doing some of the minor enemies
Anyone interested?
Here's the link to the doomworld thread: http://www.doomworld.com/vb/wads-mods/5 ... inished/3/
Here's the design document that ceejay wrote up: http://www.multiupload.com/WKF9UM6CRT

How could we post screenshots when we do not have anything to show yet? If you move ya butt over to the thread at Doomworld there is some things posted there. All we have at the moment is the resources available from the original Ghostbusters TC by Scuba Steve aswell as a design document written by myself. We are looking for people to get the project up and going so we CAN post screenshots.

Quoted from the DON'T IGNORE THIS! READ FIRST! stickied thread at the top of the Projects forum:CeeJay wrote:How could we post screenshots when we do not have anything to show yet? In other words, you need more progress than just a plan. Something that shows you're actually working on this thing and are actually serious about it.1) Before posting a new topic here, be sure you actually have a project in progress or release. For example, posting a new thread called "Mario TC" with the post "Hey i'm making a mario tc, more info soon!" isn't good enough. Be sure you've got plans for your project. Think about things like main features, help you could possibly want, suggestions you'd like. Or go take a few screenshots. People like screenshots. Just make sure you have a base for what you're going to be working on or no one is going to take interest.
2) Just to clarify from the above rule: you need to post screenshots! If a project thread is posted without screenshots, we'll give you 24 hours to get them added, or else your project thread is going to get locked. Not everybody wants to download a large-ish WAD file and puzzle over what exactly is changed, so it helps to show people what it looks like without making them read a wall of text or download a file and be surprised.
Re: Ghostbusters Doom (Need some mappers)
This is one thing that kinda bugs me with the Doom forums today.
So, uhm, we are basically not allowed to post anything until we actualy have a project. So how are we supposed to recruit people on to the project? I always thought that that is what the formuns were for, sparking interest, help and support from the community with projects that up and green lit. Guess i'm just naive. Did i mention that there is a rather lenghty thread over at Doomworld about the project and that we have an entire design document written out.
You will get your precious screenshots once we actually have something to show.

Re: Ghostbusters Doom (Need some mappers)
The point is that people tend to not be interested in something that technically only exists "on paper." It's not that we don't allow it, it's that the community tends to bitch about projects that have absolutely nothing to show for themselves except for a bunch of words and bullet points (and in this case, somebody else's abandoned work).CeeJay wrote:This is one thing that kinda bugs me with the Doom forums today.

Preferably, we will get our required screenshots once you've shown evidence that the project won't just consist of a "leader" telling the project members what to do and doing nothing themselves. You will get your precious screenshots once we actually have something to show.
Hopefully this isn't going to sound too harsh, but from what I can tell, most people aren't going to want to be a part of a project without knowing what they're going to be getting into.

I take it your method of finding team members is to club them over the head with a pipe and force them to work at gun-point. Gotta chill out Broseph Stalin, the community is here to help, not crucify you, providing you behave yourself. I know, it seems a little...backwards, but generally speaking its to keep the boards from being spammed by projects that never get done, ever. Even if its just some eyecandy of weapon sprites and some enemies in the form of sprite-sheets, that will get you in the door. It at least shows you have compiled some resources.CeeJay wrote:This is one thing that kinda bugs me with the Doom forums today.

Anyway, I am a decent graphics artist, let me know if you need help.

Sorry, i just get a little annoyed at times when people keep bugging about screenshots, also i am not quite myself having a lot of opressed anger (a tragedy that happened in late January turned my life upside down and back to front). No, i would not force at gun-point, allthough i would probably be a bit strict.Big-Boss wrote: I take it your method of finding team members is to club them over the head with a pipe and force them to work at gun-point. We always need help! We need graphic artists and mappers. Trooper077 is currently in charge of the graphics department so just send a PM his way and he can set you up or i can send you the design document myself, which should tell you what we need in terms of graphics.Big-Boss wrote: Anyway, I am a decent graphics artist, let me know if you need help.

That's no excuse to be a whiny little bitch right back. Other people have issues, too.CeeJay wrote:Sorry, i just get a little annoyed at times when people keep bugging about screenshots, also i am not quite myself having a lot of opressed anger (a tragedy that happened in late January turned my life upside down and back to front).
