Can someone upload my PK3 to idgames for me?

Post by Ceeb »

I have a PK3 I just completed, which I wanna put up on idgames, except as far as FTP goes, I might as well be reading Greek.

It's a 7 MB file, zipped up and ready to go. Anyone feel like helping old Ceeby out?

Don't you have some kind of FTP Viewer? If you use Firefox, try out FireFTP.

Installing it now.

I see people have been downloading my mod anyway... :P

Edit:

Well I made an account, that is, anonymous, with the password the.master.of.ceremonies-at-gmail.com (that's my email, of course I entered it with an @ sign, just trying to dodge the spam) and it says...

Code: Select all

500 OOPS: cannot change directory:/var/ftp
500 OOPS: child died
Unable to make a connection. Please try again.
And I'm trying to get on archives.gamers.org

:(

I can't find an incoming directory... And it keeps disconnecting... I don't think this is worth the goddamned hassle.

Edit:

Huh, incoming was under idgames2.

Edit 2:

Permission denied for no reason, fabulous! Image I think I'm just gonna stick with Mediafire, kthxbai, someone lock this please.

If you wanna try a command line approach, try this:

Code: Select all

ftp archives.gamers.org
username:anonymous
password:(put email here)
cd /pub/idgames/incoming/
bin
put (ZIP file)
put (text file)
quit

Granted I haven't tried this in a while, but everything I've ever uploaded to idgames (my Ten Thousand mod and my brother's Castle map) has been uploaded just fine using this.

EDIT: Agh, Zippy beat me to it.

Can't you retry and tell it to continue? FireFTP is able to do that. Or is there protection against overwriting implemented on the server? In that case, you should put a note for the maintainer telling him the file is broken.

The /idgames master server is a piece of utter crap. I'm not surprised that it's causing problems. I can't connect to it at all because it persistently produces timeouts.

Yeah, it was MY problem the first time (my dial up hung up).

Second time, I discovered a small batch of serious errors in the file and fixed them.

Third time, just now, the server timed out at 75%. I'm done with this shit for one day.

There's always the DRD Team Share Space. Just make an account, upload your stuff, and you're good to go.

That's not permanent, though. Presumably Ceeb wants to upload it to /idgames because it's finished and he'd like it to appear in the /newstuff Chronicles.

It's permanent until he deletes it.

So why can't someone who does *not* have problems with this godforsaken server upload it?
