Before posting your Resource, please make sure you can answer YES to any of the following questions:
  • Is the resource ENTIRELY my own work?
  • If no to the previous one, do I have permission from the original author?
  • If no to the previous one, did I put a reasonable amount of work into the resource myself, such that the changes are noticeably different from the source that I could take credit for them?
If you answered no to all three, maybe you should consider taking your stuff somewhere other than the Resources forum.

Consult the Resource/Request Posting Guidelines for more information.

Please don't put requests here! They have their own forum --> here. Thank you!

Resource Bookmarks

Post by Nash »

Post links to any resource sites (textures, sounds, sprites, models, etc) that you have bookmarked. Be sure to check that the links still work.

If everyone were to contribute to this thread, we'd quickly have a huge list of resources.

Newer links will be added to the bottom of the list.

General resources

http://opengameart.org/
Free, legal art for open source game projects - textures, sprites and models available

Textures

http://www.cgtextures.com/
THE place to go for high-res photos and textures. Most (if not all) require manual editing to make them tile-able.

Ceeb's stuff - an assortment of rips from various games.

http://scmapdb.com/textures

Just found this place:

http://www.thealmightyguru.com/VGMPF/Index.php

It maybe doesn't have too much of value for mods but it does have a lot of ogg format versions of game tunes that are otherwise hard to listen to because of their native format.

Wow, cool. Just cool. :)

Given that many of them "loop" and fade out, they could probably be easily trimmed for loopable music.

What! No one has mentioned the Mod Archive yet. Let me correct that oversight.

http://modarchive.org/

A good source of tracker files of various formats. Some stuff very useful for Doom levels in there and most if not all the formats are supported by Zdoom.

Probably quite a few people already know of the Sprite Database: http://sdb.drshnaps.com/

It has various sprites from various games, they're all in sprite sheets. I actually find it fairly useful when I'm too lazy to open up XWE and rip individual sprites from Doom by myself.

http://davidorr.newgrounds.com/

David Orr is planning to open has opened a music archive that has a ton of free music and loops.

Though, don't forget to look through the NG audio portal either.

Also, Lol VGMPF. Dean's a cool guy though and hopefully he'll have Kingdom Under Fire up at some point. I might need to e-mail him and remind him though...

There's a link to the ZDoom topic of all the texture packs and code snippets I've put together. I also plan to put together some Notepad++ syntax configs for DECORATE and maybe ACS if I can find the time to do so.

I don't know about the rest of the forum, but I think that regardless of what your texture packs contain, it's kind of bad form to link your own resource thread in here... =P

Why? It's not stickied and I don't bump it very often, so anybody who checks this thread will see that I have a thread of texture packs and other things I've made. I've bookmarked the thread of resources I contributed, hence the name of this thread. :P
