[Sprite] Cacomental

Post by Enjay »

So, I had a bit of spare time today and I decided to exercise my not-so 1337 spriting skills. I didn't want to just do yet another recolour but I didn't want to do a huge sprite set either so a Caco edit seemed like a good idea. This was the result:

Yeah, I know, I'm no Eriance. :? It probably looks a bit too cutesy with that big green eye too. Ah well.

I've stuck it in a WAD but the DECORATE is nothing fancy: its an almost identical clone of the Cacodemon. The only differences are that I gave it a separate melee attack with a bite sound and green blood. So, if anyone feels that they want to do anything with it, a more interesting DECORATE would be advised.

In the zip is a WAD and a sprite sheet. Load the WAD and summon a Cacomental to see it in game.

If anyone feels that they want to do anything with it, be my guest. Just the usual credit is all I ask.

[edit] And here is Mk2

Looks better but it still needs some work. Still, I've had enough of it for the moment.

This time summon Cacomental2

[edit2]
And for good measure, an altered pain elemental that leaves a corpse.

Thanks to wolfman for providing the files - the originals were lost when the DRD File hosting service was discontinued.

Aww, it's adorable...

Not bad, though I'd have given it arms or blackened its horns to make it a bit more balanced between caco and pain-E.

This monster has the prerequisite of "caco-painse", I'm afraid.

I thought about arms but decided against it simply because I would have felt the need for 3 "walking" animation frames like the PE has and I didn't have the time for that. The horns are a bit darker than the Caco ones... but not that dark. I tried making them even darker but, despite it being an apparently simple task, my attempts looked awful.

[edit} Awww sod it. I'll have a go giving it arms and PE horns. :P [/edit]

Nice. I thought about doing something like that but it seemed too much like hard work. :P

Anyway, I've uploaded an edit. This time it has pain elemental horns and arms. As a bi-product, it means that I made some death frames which, with a bit of tweaking, could be used for Pain elemental death frames if someone wanted them to leave a corpse. There was a thread about that on Doomworld some time ago. I'll see how easy it will be to do them tomorrow.

They do look quite cool now; much better than yet-another-recolor. (Skulltag, I'm looking at you.)

Thanks. They could still do with a bit of work but it is beyond my patience and skill to take it much further.

I also quickly threw together a pain elemental corpse. Again, it would need some work but it's not awful.

Summon PainElemantal2 (he only fires 1 lost soul when he dies because he doesn't explode. :P)

Yeah, I know what you mean, it'd be a bitch to do the entire set. Plus it doesn't look that good, but I felt like doing that sprite just for shits and giggles. :P

Anyways, that's a pretty awesome sprite you've made and that pain elemental corpse should come quite in handy.

Heh, pretty cool, Enjay. :) I was the one who made that thread on DW, but ironically now I don't remember what I requested it for. :P Oh well, I'll see if I can make some use of it anyway. ;)
