It's funny what you don't notice.

Post by Enjay »

I mean, it's taken me 16 years to spot. I was messing around cutting and pasting graphics to see if I could come up with some new sprite edits and I noticed this:

The skin/eye switch is basically made of the pink part of the cacodemon face copied and flipped.
Spoiler:
I have never seen anyone else mention this so I'm guessing that it isn't that well known. I know about the invulnerability sphereusing the (alpha?) lost soul face and the megasphere using the mancubus face. Any other shared graphics that may not be immediately obvious?

Wow, that's a neat find! Good eyes.

I don't know how "unobvious" they are, but some small editing (especially recoloring) work from Heretic to Hexen:

Blazing Crossbow Arrow -> Slaughtaur Shot
Phoenix Rod shot -> Wraithverge shot
Powered Hellstaff Shot -> Bloodscourge Orb
Energy in second frame of Disciple's death -> Energy in second frame of Bishop's death

A-what?!?!?

Anyway, I just noticed the odd left-side of the hand in SHTGB0.

I noticed the similarity, but never bothered to compare the texture with the sprite for whatever reasons... good find though, I think it needs a keen eye and propably a good portion of "mapper-interest" to spot such thinks :)

The clink and centaur have the same feet, pixel for pixel.

Also, THEY REUSED D'SPARIL'S SERPENT IN HEXEN

That's some pretty crazy stuff. Not quite as upsetting as the cloud/bush thing in Mario, though.

But they edited it to give it long spikes. D'Sparil's mount was the "extra comfy" breed without neck spikes.

On the other hand, compare the mount to Korax himself...

The only thing I knew about thus far in this thread was the mancubus face for the megasphere

But you should honour this realisation by making a pink skinodemon which resembles the switch ;)

Not exactly an artsy' notice but I was proud to find that one bad door line in House of Pain (the one just after the first few demons than can ruin coop games) and find no one really knew about it.

Anyone noticed that the Strife Guy and Doom Guy have very similar walking frames?

- oh, and that the Fist Marine in the marine skins pack is actually a Baron's body on top of Doomguy's legs? It always make me lol seeing that Doomguy suddenly gets a buffed up back when he switches to the fist.

One of the barrel's exploding frames is actually a resized frame from the Cyberdemon's death. You can even see a remnant of its right hoof if you look closely. :o

I didn't know about any of this shit. I thought I had a good eye...guess not.

Well except for the Hexen lizard being reused, but that one's just obvious.

"Doom poom" sounds really...uh, never mind, I'm not going there.
