Project Posting Guidelines

We sure do have a lot of rules and guidelines threads - find them all here, and please make sure you've read them! Also, community-wide announcements (that aren't major ZDoom News) go here as well.

Floping huh? As in, the action of flop? Wouldn't that be flopping? I don't really think "floping" is a word.

EDIT: What's wrong with Farking? I used to see that one used all the time.

The thing is, no matter what tittle is given, it will be ignored (by the average noob) anyway, so I guess I must live with that and make observations in the threads each time i see one "Look I have this idea! I want you all to help me doing it"/"Here is my shotgun modification, it does moar damage now! enjoy!".

Well, now i think about it, the only way to call the attention and make users read the thread (kind of) could be "free porn" or something like that :P

I didn't even know that porn had been arrested!

As for the title and how likely the thread is to be read, I think we all know that n00bz won't read it, period. The only time they might visit this thread is after they have disregarded the guidelines and posted something inappropriate. At that point, someone else will probably make a STFU n00b post, linking them to this thread.

However, a genuine newbie wanting to find out stuff may take the time to read the thread and they don't need to be shouted at or even floped at. ;) A "Read this" should do for a newbie. Just enough to tell them that this thread should be read before they post something.

There's a similar topic in the editing section. They'll have to read that too.

Plus, many people won't read it anyway. It's like when you install a new game, and the whole License Agreement pops up. I can safely say that the majority of people in existence will just click NEXT without reading one word of it.

...and even I have to admit, I haven't even looked at this thread until now, several months after joining this particular forum. Any projects I have created myself don't bring ANYTHING new to the table, and I realize this, so I don't post them - but I knew this before reading this thread :/. It's kinda sad, yet staggering at the same time just how many times I've seen the whole "USERNAME, please keep in mind that we have seen thousands if not millions of upcoming projects blah blah" copy and paste thing.

I'm currently working on my first official Zdoom Map (After 400 Scrapped Map ideas, and months poured into studying the wiki and the tutorials)
It is using Map slot 01, and it is called:

"Artillery Run"

The architecture will be underground base, with strong use of brown backgrounds (Brown metal walls, computers, caverns, water and waterfalls), and be a fairly LARGE map.

Features planned to be included: 3d bridges, use of slopes to create natural cave effect, cascading water, elevators, colored brown fog, suprise ACS scripts and usages.

Things I will ask help on doing: Multi-Story buildings, K^2 bridges, Feedback.

The Music: http://dl1.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/dl/ ... sicily.mp3

Screenshots will be uploaded periodically.

Please do not post your project announcements in here. That's what the Post Topic button is for.

You're a little slow, seeing that he already posted a topic already in the Projects thread.

Yes, but my original point still stands; this is not an announcement thread and people should not be spamming it up with stuff about their own projects.

Okay listen up, from now on I (maybe the other mods) are going to be making sure these rules are enforced. Any topics that don't follow the guidelines will be moved or locked.

Re: PROJECT POSTING GUIDELINES - Read this, darn it!

Paragraph #8 has been added to the posting guidelines. Don't panic, though; it's actually a guide (courtesy of Randy) for controlling the forum thumbnails for your project thread.
