Some kind of RPG(ish) wads?
Some kind of RPG(ish) wads?
May someone suggest some RPG(ish) wads with features such as NPC interaction, quest system, multiple paths with maybe multiple endings, choices affecting later levels (such as in SiN, for example), multiple choices dialogues, money system with shops, experience and skills, and things like that? I've been looking for them but due to the HUGE number of wads I've been unable to find anything. Obviously, I'm not looking for ALL these features to be present at the same time in a single mod, i'm not THAT much of a dreamer
. Still, something even remotely close to what I'm looking for would be at the very least interesting to examine.

Community Is Falling 3 comes to mind.

Don't know if you're looking for just a gameplay change, but I hear this guy Zhs2 and Naniyue have been cooking something up in the last year or so. I heard you could expect something December-wise, but you didn't hear it from me.
The WIP is pretty playable for the time being, though...
Re: Some kind of RPG(ish) wads?
The old WIP is a bit of an embarrassment, especially since innumerable changes and improvements in both code and artwork have been made since it was released. It is best to wait until the new WIP is out, and ignore the old one entirely. We hope to have it available by the end of the month, or shortly thereafter. There are plenty of abilities and skills to earn/learn, so at least we have that covered for you!Zhs2 wrote: The WIP is pretty playable for the time being, though...

Played already. Actually, I loved that game, incredible usage of Doom engine. Something else like that would rock.
CIF3 looks great, by the way, although I kind of despise of the awkward setting.
P.S.
Just discovered Chibi Rebellion 4.0 while looking for some WADs. Looks beyond awesome.

Try looking up LoCs II, Korax Mod, Diabolic, and Hexen RPG for Hexen, and I'm sure LWM wouldn't mind me sending you a copy of HQuest (Heretic).

Phocas 2 has some of what you mentioned. Multiple paths and what you do effects later maps. The current version in the works (phocas2.5) will introduce a leveling weapon system and more path choices.

Thanks for the suggestions, please keep them coming. Hquest looks cool, I had already played both Korax Mod and Hexen RPG, but i'd like a wad with its own maps.
Anyone knows of Doom WADs that make extensive use of a dialogue system?

Hint: The "it" is a link.
On another note it would be awesome to a see an Ultima Underworld inspired WAD.

Strife is abandonware, which means its free now. Rogue no longer exists, so you can download it without paying a cent perfectly legally.ds201 wrote:Try buying strife.

Actually it still is illegal. There's a .01% chance that someone will actually go after you, though.
