Aeons Of Death & DoomBuilder.

Post by ShadowTiger »

'lo all, postnewbie here. Not at all sure where to post this, so the General area will do, I suppose.

In light of the love and sheer bada$$ery that Aeons of Death gives off when playing it, the natural desire to create levels using its enemies and weapons but placed specifically and not randomly comes to mind. There wouldn't happen to be any way to open it in DoomBuilder 2 for editing, would there? Every time I try to open it using any permutation of settings in DoomBuilder 2 I get a jumble of garbage in the level, and hundreds of errors. Is this even possible?

Also, I don't suppose there would be a way to find out what the summoning console commands would be for it, would there? I just find them by experimentation. "summon playerclone" for example summons the shotgun player clone, but what would I type for the BFG clone? etc.

Thanks for the replies. :)

1. I don't think the AEOD crew has added DoomEdNums for each thing.

2. Use SLumpEd and check the DECORATE files. :P

3. Good luck! (Lots of DECORATE to work your way through)

If you needed to add the standard Doom monsters and weapons/items into your levels you would have to either make new actors based on the stock ones, or edit the random spawners so that the stock actors are not replaced by them.

In 4.x almost every monster and weapon have a DoomEd number. In the old pack there were two excel lists, one with the monster list and the other had the weapons (summon name and number). This file is no longer available but you could go into AEoDdat.pk and check the code for whatever you're interested in placing. Yes, there is tons of code over there, but at least the mosters are splitted in categories (per game, mostly).
