Or you could put a deck of cards in there so the prisoners can just sit around and play Tunk ;pXaser wrote:Hehe, I was going to suggest some sort of silly "Jailgame" where you can fistfight other jailed players -- not actually harming them, but getting points and whatnot. Perhaps defeating an opponent could be faked by teleporting them (faking a 'respawn') when they take too much pseudo-damage.
Hey, it'd be just like a real prison, so why not? :P

A Soap-dropping simulation would be the clear winner here.

Perhaps toss in a mini-arcade of sorts. There are already a few games out there you can use.

Played a bit of the latest release last night and it's a blast. I wonder, though, do you have a separate forum for it? I checked your site but didn't see anything. I've got a few suggestions/bugs I'd like to submit.

Re: Stronghold - Final Shots! (p47)
Maybe a way to break out of the jail, with a series of puzzles, fistfights with superior enemies, and the like?
Or, maybe just waiting would be good.

Re: Stronghold - Final Shots! (p47)
Wouldn't work. Assuming that players who die in jail are just sent back to jail, you'd see people just throwing themselves at the opponent and dying repeatedly until they finally wear them down. Also, enough players at once can zerg rush and just painlock anything.Mik57 wrote:fistfights with superior enemies
Maybe if death in jail puts you into "super jail" or something and you can't escape on your own. But that's kind of overcomplicating things, don't you think?

Also I've punched out a Baron before. No berserk, either. I then tried to do the same with a Cyberdemon, figuring that it'd just take 4 times as long... Not quite; Cyberdemons shoot faster, giving you way less time to dodge.

I do that a lot. Sparring against 4 barons at a time and winning is fun for a few times.Ethril wrote: Also I've punched out a Baron before. No berserk, either. Waiting always gets boring after a while.Mik57 wrote:Maybe a way to break out of the jail, with a series of puzzles, fistfights with superior enemies, and the like?

So are there any boss monsters in Stronghold? Say after you beat the final wave or mixed in during some of the last waves?
That certainly would make it more interesting.

What latest release? I don't remember any builds of this having been released in a very long time.ultimatecarl wrote:Played a bit of the latest release last night and it's a blast. Nah, I don't actually know. He's obviously not part of the development team [I am, although I haven't helped in forever, I done my maps and that's it.] Otherwise he's both know where the forums are and have access to them.

Finished?
Finally, Stronghold is done and released!!!!
...no, actually it isn't, I just wanted to shock all those people spamming my pm bos, my email inbox and my messengers with one single question: "Will Stronghold be part of the Annual Cacowards?" Sure, many of you already know that I am a big fan of copy'n'paste
but hey, this is obviously going too far so time to make a statement about this. During the last 2 months, the Stronghold team focussed on the completion of the project. We finalized all the maps, fixed countless obvious bugs, we even started with - sort of - beta tests. And this as exactly the time when the team decided that Blizzard does exactly the right thing, when they say "When it's done!". Sure, releasing Stronghold in 2009 and hoping for a Cacoward for our sweat and effort would have been a cool thing, but is it that important? We had the choice between releasing an untested and unfinished Stronghold 2009 or releasing a perfect project (at least from our points of view) in 2010, and that's exactly what we will go for.
There most propably won't be a release in 2009, maybe not even in January 2010, but don't worry: Stronghold won't be abandoned. We are still working on it, but we just think it's more important to kill every single bug that's left and make up for a unique and entertaining single and multiplayer experience instead of rushing this out to the community. At least, there is really little testing and fixing left to be done (the "Bugtracker" says 13 map/resource issues and 9 script issues) and we hopefully will be able to resolve these things pretty soon.
So just... stay tuned

Re: Stronghold - Is it finished?! (p51 bottom)
YAY! Stronghold RELEASED!!! But... No, it can't be! It is'nt released yet!!
ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGH!!!1!1! Haven't we suffered enough!?!
...
Well, enough of my childish tantrum. It's good to know that we are going to get a perfectly bug-free release rather than playing an unfinished project with a few bugs here and there. Psyched for the 2010 release!
